Hillary Rodham Clinton's most loyal delegates came to the Pepsi Center on Tuesday night looking for direction. They listened, rapt, to a 20-minute speech that many proclaimed the best she had ever delivered, hoping her words could somehow unwind a year of tension in the Democratic Party. But when Clinton stepped off the stage and the standing ovation faded into silence, many of her supporters were left with a sobering realization: Even a tremendous speech couldn't erase their frustrations.
Despite Clinton's plea for Democrats to unite, her delegates remained divided as to how they should proceed.
There was Jerry Straughan, a professor from California, who listened from his seat in the rafters and shook his head at what he considered the speech's predictability. "It's a tactic," he said. "Who knows what she really thinks? With all the missteps that have taken place, this is the only thing she could do. So, yes, I'm still bitter."
There was JoAnn Enos, from Minnesota, who digested Clinton's resounding endorsement of Barack Obama and decided that she, too, will move on and get behind him. "I'll vote for [Obama] in the roll call," she said, "because that's what Hillary wants."
There was Shirley Love, from West Virginia, who smiled at Clinton's composure, waved a button bearing her name and felt a renewed pang of regret that she had lost the nomination. "She deserves it," Love said. "That's the thing that sticks with you. Even if she can move on easily, that's not as easy for everybody else."

Exactly. Hillary had to make it look like she was a good trooper fighting for the party, while at the same time really not doing anything positive for Obama. In that reguard, Hillary's speech was perfect. Hillary 2012 was the subliminal message.
I’m betting that Hillary won’t even run for the Senate. She or Bill will feign illness. The light at the end of the tunnel is a locomotive.
She’s got to keep her seat. She has to be in politics to make a run for it in 2012. She can’t be sitting out and out of the loop for any length of time, it will be a big detriment and weakness if she does.
She won’t run for either. She doesn’t own the party.
Granting that Democrats have become constitutionally incapable of productive political action, can you imagine how much good could have been done had they put half as much energy into actually governing as they do into running for office?

A 2012 run necessitates Obama losing to McCain. Should Obama win then the Clintons will be pretty much out of the Party as the leader as it will become Obama’s Party on the National level. jmo.
But like you I think she’ll be there in 2012 as I don’t expect Obama to win. Thus the Clintons will still be the figure head of the Party and she needs the Senate seat for a base of power and funding.

No, but I can imagine how much EVIL they would have done if they did as you say.
Yeah, that’s the thing: it’s probably better they spend all their energy just running around trying to schmooze people. If they had actually set to on what they said was their agenda, we’d all be much the worse off.

August 25, 2008DOWNTOWN DENVER - A group of about two dozen people -- anarchists of earlier protests -- marched on the 16th Street Mall on Monday afternoon. They were Hillary Clinton supporters. The group referred to itself as the "PUMA Pack," the acronym standing for "Party Unity My (expletive)."
Sheri Tagliaferri, a member of the group, said that they were opposed to a skewed process for selecting a Democratic nominee.
