The Berkeley-based nonprofit Free History Project has sent a cease-and-desist letter to a right-wing political group which used footage from one of the projects documentaries in a new ad that tries to tie Barack Obama to 1960s-era radical William Ayers.
The letter demands that all broadcasts of the American Issues Project ad, now running in Michigan and Ohio, be halted as a violation of copyright law.
San Francisco attorney John Keker wrote the ads producers have willfully violated the Free History Projects intellectual property rights, and demanded that they immediately remove the advertisement from any television, cable network, or other media outlet where it is currently running and remove the ad from the American Issues Projects web site. Hes also formally notifying Michigan and Ohio television stations about the alleged copyright violation.
The footage came from the Free History Projects 2002 documentary The Weather Underground, tells the story of the radical group of the same name founded by William Ayers which hoped to overthrow the U.S. government during the late 1960s and 70s.
We were shocked and dismayed to see that material from our film was taken and used in this manner, film director Sam Green said in a news release. Our goal in making The Weather Underground was to produce an even-handed and fair account of a turbulent period in American history. We would never authorize anyone to make use of the film for the purposes of divisive partisan politics.

Good luck with that, Bizerkeley...
Looks like the Ayers ad has really hit a nerve with the moonbats, all the more reason to keep going with it full blast.
Our goal in making The Weather Underground was to produce an even-handed and fair account of a turbulent period in American history.”
Everything I’ve read said that they felt justified using violence, that NOT to use violence would’ve be a “violent” act. That Bill Ayers was not repentent and felt remoarse that he didn’t “do more”. They supported the North Vietnamese army (not a peace movement) and sought to overthrow our form of government through violent guerrilla war.
Now what is the “positive” spin that they felt needed to be presented?
“turbulent history”. Would they use the same terms in discussing the actions of revolutionaries like Lee Harvey Oswald or Sirhan Sirhan?
Wouldn’t “Free History Project” indicate that all that it was produced was either to be consumed for free or used freely?
You wanna place any bets that these are the same people that say “information wants to be free” when arguing net neutrality and government oversight?
Thus, the footage belongs to U.S. citizens... end...
Berkeley is (ironically) the home of anti-free speech tyrannts, who have no appreciation for the US Constitution and “fair use” excerpting.
And yes, this is indeed identical to legal issues in the Michael Savage case.
The ad is very, very powerful.
Obama and his minions are quick to intimidate.
Wait until he has the power of the oval office.
The American Issues Project is getting a lot of free advertising by the Obama camp as they file complaints with the Department of Justice, file frivolous lawsuits like this one, air their own ad saying Obama was only 8 years old when Ayers was bombing, and calling and sending a 100,000 messages to the Sinclair stations airing AIP ad.
As Corsi benefited from the Obama smear campaign, so will AIP!!!!!!
Oh by the way. Michelle Obama now says she loves America. I counted her saying that three times last night and I only watched a snippet. Sorry Michelle, you can say “I love America” all you want, but it will never overcome the “First time I have been proud of America” statement.
You can stream the whole film via Netflix and there is an interview in this thread.

A sobering documentary about a group of 1960s committed freedom fighters known as The Weather Underground. A radical offshoot of the Students for a Democratic Society, the Weathermen didn’t just march or sit in; they rioted and bombed not to change the American political scene but rather to destroy it. The organization was part of a global trend of revolution that sprang from the belief that not acting against violence is violence.
Starring: Lili Taylor, Billy Ayers
Director: Bill Siegel
Genre: Documentary
A left-wing outfit wants an anti-left wing ad pulled. What a surprise!
But Ayers was just a guy from Barry's hood.
Is this what you were looking for?
Thanks for the links weegee.

The Weathermen were initially part of the Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM) within the SDS, splitting from the RYM’s Maoists by claiming there was no time to build a vanguard party and that revolutionary war against the United States government and the capitalist system should begin immediately. Their founding document called for the establishment of a “white fighting force” to be allied with the “Black Liberation Movement” and other “anti-colonial” movements[1] to achieve “the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism.”
They want to protect their copyright. My how CAPITALIST of them.
Score one for the good guys.
I think this falls under fair use.
If this Obamatons wanted to make this go away, they should just keep their mouths shut.
