'Drill Now' Revolt Continues

Today House Speaker Nancy Pelosi jets her way into the fourth week of her book tour with a dismal sales rank (as of Saturday night) on Amazon.com of 22,184th. Some 22,183 books are selling better than Pelosi’s own as House Republicans maintain their high-voltage revolt on Capitol Hill and nationwide demanding that Pelosi bring the House back into session for a vote to end the Congressional embargo on offshore drilling.

Instead of returning to debate their colleagues on practical energy policy last week, Democrats kept floating their wacky ideas. Democrat Majority Leader Steny Hoyer asked the Office of Personnel Management to provide him with “a comprehensive analysis” of a transition by federal government employees to a four-day work week. Not altogether surprising, given the breathtaking void between these elitist Democrat leaders and Americans living in the real world. Without getting even one of the twelve annual appropriation bills to the President’s desk for signature, Pelosi adjourned the House for a five-week vacation. Now it’s a four-day work week for federal employees put forth by Hoyer. If Democrat leadership would prefer to live in socialist Europe, they should relocate with all speed and take their failed ideology with them.

Back in the House Chamber, Republican members of Congress continued to put forth practical ideas for solutions to America’s struggle with high gasoline prices.

I’m surprised John Boehner’s proposal wasn’t mentioned:

You got to be careful how these things are timed. The House is called back into session on the same day as the Republican National Convention opens in Minneapolis, and with an overwhelming number of Democrats seated, expecting only a rump delegation of Republicans, several very swift voice votes will be called, and a huge amount of legislation disposed of in the dark of night, so to speak.

Everything else is tabled before the Republicans who were also delegates or observers at the Republican convention get back to town.

Who says Queen Bee Nanacy can’t game the system?

Wouldn’t that be something (and powerful) if they ignored their own convention to vote on this?

Queen Nancy’s carbon footprint is certainly bigger than her book sales. Where is the ridicule by Leno and Letterman that would be heaped upon any Republican who was this hypocritical?

I haven’t seen any griping in the msm about the jet fuel and other carbon being wasted by the Dems in Denver this week either. So much for being “green.”

Relax. The GOP Convention is 9/1 - 9/4. 9/1 is Labor Day and the House schedule calls for a District Work Period from 9/2 to 9/5.

The House is in session 9/8 and is scheduled to adjourn 9/26. This will be an attempt to avoid any vote that might give the GOP the opportunity to attach drilling language. Pelosi wants to avoid a vote on drilling at all costs.

There are 11 of 12 appropriations bills awaiting action. Unreal. This is usually handled long before now. The Democrats are going to try and pass continuing resolutions to keep the government funded long enough for (they presume) Obama to take office so they can avoid a veto for their prolifigate spending.

There’s no chance Pelosi will recall the House during the GOP Convention.

Some 22,183 books are selling better than Pelosi’s

Sorry for the OT post, but speaking of book sales, this book is #20 at Amazon thanks to a call from the 16-yr old author on Rush's show last week:

Pulling Weeds to Picking Stocks: The Adolescent Millionaire

The boy mentioned he and his brothers want proceeds to benefit the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. Kudos to another group of Conservatives doing the right thing!

If she does that, the republicans should stay in DC to fight her and the Republican Convention should be used as a bully pulpit to expose Pelosi’s games!

Checkmate!

This reminds me of the old dictum that states:
“You deserve the government that you elect. You also deserve everything they do to you while the hold the power”

Thanks for the correction. I took the poster at their word that there was a scheduling overlap. Of course, I’m now taking you at your word that there’s not. :)

Amazing that Nan dissed the Church on abortion, misunderstood the fact that natural gas is from the past of dinos too, can’t understand what oil is, thinks the Messiah is from God but not from Nazareth! Yipe. With Harry Reid, John ought to run also against a Dem controlled Congress. The RNC should at least run ads like that.

I hate McCain but am positively surprised at the cynical campaign he is running. He really has the rats upset and sweating. They have played the negative cynical game forever and now that someone is beating them at it they are in a tizzy. Like the Swift Boat Vets for truth I look forward to MCCain’s ads.

In spite of being sure that Obama-Pelosi-Reid will be a nightmare and McCain’s entertaining campaign, McCain is running against Bush and Republican congress as much as Obama. He is saying unlike them he can work with democrats and buck Republicans. If he somehow gets elected, and many will vote for him AND a democrat in congress at same time, it will be worse than Obama. We will own the disaster then.

It of course depends whether some conservPubs actually win some of the empty rep seats in the House. There are nearly 35 open seats in the House. Pubs are supposed to lose 6 Senate seats. Perhaps not if the radicalism of the leftist Dems continues in prime time. The radicalism, the racism of this Obama team; class warfare are not good for America: period.
