One major problem with politics -- as we've all probably figured out by now -- is that politicians view every human challenge as political in nature, meaning, particularly these last few years. Objective No. 1 in the political trade is sticking to it The Other Party.
What else could explain Democratic obstinacy and obfuscation over offshore oil drilling? The national interest certainly couldn't explain it.
A basic principle of oil exploration is that you look for oil where it is, instead of where you'd like it to be. Assuming, in the Democrats' case, there's any place they would like it to be.
When, over the weekend, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced she was ready to let the House consider expanded offshore drilling, she had to do so in the context of whamming the Bush administration, which, she alleged, "has increased our dependence on foreign oil, damaged our economy and left consumers paying record prices at the pump." We all may be assured of one thing: The speaker herself isn't interested in finding oil. Her recent claim -- "I'm trying to save the planet" (by keeping drillers away from offshore waters) -- has less to do with securing stable energy supplies than with helping guide the Democrats to absolute control over Washington, D.C. The nation's need for energy can wait a bit. First, we have to kick a few more Republicans in the pants.
The speaker's offer to "consider opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling" comes to us accompanied by language about "appropriate safeguards" -- whatever "appropriate" means to a congressional committee -- and repudiation of "taxpayer subsidies to big oil."

lol..all that plastic molded into one face.
Could it be that their sugar daddy and mentor, Geo Soro, is heavily invested in oil ventures of his own?
Would off shore drilling adversely affect his ventures?
Nah!.These people are to honorable for anything sleazy like that.
We need more ads directed against Pelosi and her lies and stupidity.
Fox and Friends just had Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D), Maryland, on, spewing the same old same old dim talking points. The show was suppose to have on Congressman Eric Cantor (R) to respond, but sadly had communications problems. Too bad!
“We need more ads directed against Pelosi and her lies and stupidity.”
No need. Pelousy will be history as Speaker in January.
We need the ads NOW, to encourage more people to vote a Republican Ticket NOW.
With talk radio, the Internet & video; the Lefties can’t get away with the lies they have been spewing over the years...
70% of Americans want off shore drilling and the ‘Rats are gonna be in for a rude awakening come 11/4!
Nancy’s just another Dem liar and embellisher. She alos said that Barry was “a blessing from God”.
Hopefully, their arrogance will be their undoing.
I didn’t know much about this Van Hollen guy. I don’t recall ever seeing anything of him before. But, you could have injected botox into his face, and put a wig on him, placed a failed book in his hand, and it would have come out as Nancy Pelosi spewing her spin. The guy had a real condescending and snotty attitude, and as I said, offered the same old same old, “we can’t drill our way out of this”, blah blah blah, “it will be 10 years before any production starts” blah blah blah “and then, negligable effect on prices” etc. etc. etc. And when Steve Doocey asked him about China drilling off of our coast, his response was basically “so what”. As I said, it was too bad Eric Cantor couldn’t get through to counter this spew.
I just hope someone in Maryland’s 8th district, (Van Hollen’s; I looked it up), was paying attention, and remembers this clown when they gas up to go to the polls in Nov.!
Just get out of the way, Nancy.
This whole energy debate highlights why the government should ALWAYS have minimal control over us. Its inteference in the private industry has produced this current state of high prices.
The founders were so keen to recognize this.
Vote her out,she can devote full time to saving the planet, shouldn’t take over 3-4 days then.
“Why isn’t our side calling for an ethnic investigation into The Speaker’s business relationship with wind-farmer, T-Bonehead Pickens.”
Because, truth be known, the rest of the clowns in D.C. are probably invested in T. Boone Pickens & other investments they shouldn’t be also!
“Vote her out”
given the “makeup”(pun intended LOL) of her district;
not much chance of that happening BUT I expect her days as Speaker are numbered...
BTTT
One other major problem with today’s politics is that the liberals control the main stream media. They can lie, make up things and be completely in the tank for the libs and they print or say it on the news and it becomes “fact” although it is fiction.
Nancy Pelosi is completely in the tank for liberal enviro-whackos who won’t allow her to move the agenda of the people. She might allow drilling but it will be under such strict restrictions and in places there isn’t oil to make it useless. Impeach Nancy Pelosi.
Vote her out
given the makeup(pun intended LOL) of her district;
not much chance of that happening BUT I expect her days as Speaker are numbered...
Yep. When Sheehan officially entered the race against Pelosi, I momentarily hoped that they would split the vote to the point where the Repub candidate could sneak in. Then I did some investigation on past votes in that district, and realized that even if Sheehan and Pelosi were to split 50/50, one them would still have enough votes to beat the Repub, unless something miraculous was to happen.
So, I agree that beating Her Botoxness as the Speaker is the best bet...
Probably because we already know he's white.
Yes soon you'll be able to see Chinese oil rigs off the coast of Florida, but we will not be allowed to drill in the same area by our illustrious Congress. I'm glad these idiots - who, after all, are trying to save the planet! - are so stupid. Makes it easier to defeat them.
