AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry said Monday that local school districts should be able to decide whether to allow concealed weapons on their campuses.

"I'm pretty much a fan that if you've been trained, if you are registered, then you ought to be able to carry a weapon," Perry said.

Dunno ... a crazy quilt approach to carry regulations makes it damn difficult to stay in compliance. I don’t see this as doing good.

"Dunno ... a crazy quilt approach to carry regulations makes it damn difficult to stay in compliance. I don’t see this as doing good."

SO:
In the interest of uniformity, you'd prefer NOT to have teachers armed and able to defend our children against a murderous psychopath???

I don't think it would be all that hard for the average concealed-carry permitholder to figure out what a sign at a school's door means.

Or for that matter, said psychopath might well be put-off by a sign saying

"Armed teachers employed here"

Oh, please. Don't use that debating technique on me. There have been plenty of times where the state, especially when it pertains to a state constitutional clause, preempts local decision making and courts have backed that up. I'm saying Perry should show some balls and declare that CC on school grounds is allowed. The uniformity I seek is "shall not be infringed" in its original sense.
