I know but of course the first rule of liberalism is that the rules apply only to everyone else not the rule makers. I take personal delight in my ability to fly my family to the West Coast and drive a mini-van but of course I don’t give a fly’s dick about silly notions of conservation.
Conservation is just another word for waiting to run out. Energy is something that the universe is full of the only limits we have is our ability to master the technology to produce it. We will not master that technology pretending that conservation is something beneficial. We will be just saving gas for the the Chinese, Indians, and Mexicans. Europe and the US are the laughing stock for the rest of the world. They don’t mind if we limit our energy options because they, especially the Chinese, understand that energy is the stuff that economies run on. While we are wasting time swapping out light bulbs they will be becoming the superpowers in the world.

Brief aside: Back in the early aughts there was a terrible oily mess on the FL beach in my city. My feet were so covered in beach tar I needed a container of baby oil to get it off. I can't remember why it happened but by the next weekend it was gone.
Yep solar is inefficient. It will get better but it will never really be a good option yet. I do think once commercial space industries take off huge orbital solar arrays will be possible but that is still science fiction. The same could be said using carbon fiber reinforced cables trailing through the magnetosphere. Again still science fiction and no amount of taxes will change that. Obama is selling a big lie. The government would take the money and waste most of it and produce very little or end up producing a very expensive energy solution geared towards “sacrifice”. Well screw that. Let the liberals sacrifice.
If they think alternative energy is so promising let the google boys spend their money on it and then give it away for free if they don’t really care about profit and capitalism and all that. That is what should indicate to anyone who has an open mind that liberal solutions are nothing of the sort. If they really thought their ideas would work they would invest their own money in them rather than spending so much money and effort on producing propaganda.
Let them save the world. Isn’t there a few trillion dollars amongst the all the liberals in the world? I may regret suggesting it but why are they waiting on government to do what they could do privately without having to compromise with conservatives or even argue their point? Let them develop a real non government supported alternative energy solution that doesn’t require us to give up our cars and eat fruits and nuts exclusively.
I forgot to add that my fingernails were filthy when I had beach tar on my feet.
Not to mention you’d need one the size of a football field on top of your car to drive a city block.
As China and India move to surpass us. The US on mopeds and China in SUV's. I see it already.
