Some of you may have been surprised that even after visiting Iraq Obama still talks about our accomplishments there in somewhat disparaging terms.
As senator McCain aptly put it:
Senator Obama said that the strategy of the surge would not succeed. He said it was doomed to fail. He said there would be an increase in sectarian violence. He still, to this day, has said that the surge is not succeeding.

A very critical linchpin in Obamas political platform has been his unequivocal opposition to the invasion of Iraq -- pejoratively referred to by the left as Bush s war.
Obama has portrayed himself as the proverbial voice crying in the wilderness.
Indeed, even Hillary Clinton was denigrated for her support of President Bush after the September 11th 2001 terrorists attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. ( Hillary approved S. J. Res. 45, A Resolution to Authorize the Use of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq )
In his 2002 Speech Against the Iraq War, Obama says:

I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences.
Obamas message is very clear:
That even if the war in Iraq is successful (1) Its not worth our time. (2) Its not worth our money. (3) Its not worth putting up with the inevitable undetermined consequences.
In Obamas world view, even if our military in Iraq is successful, its still a failure!
According to Obama the war never should have happened.
But the reality is, it DID happen and now all but the most dense know we are winning in Iraq.
The terrorist are on the run and it now appears to most observers that Bushs War is proving a success.
Still Obama refuses to acknowledge victory.
Why is that?

The differences on Iraq in this campaign are deep. Unlike Senator John McCain, I opposed the war in Iraq before it began, and would end it as president
Obama clearly states that he opposed the war before it began.
He is not alone.
On October 18, 2003 Arabic satellite television (Al Jazeera) reported that they were in possession of an audio tape with a message from bin Laden, sent to Arabic satellite television advising U.S. forces to leave Iraq.
President Bush begs to differ with bin Laden and holds the course in Iraq.
In the same message bin Laden vows to carry out more September 11-style suicide attacks against US interests.
Almost five years later Al-Qaeda, along with bin Laden, are on the run.
America has been secure from attack at home.
When Americans think of war they think of places far, far, away from their everyday life.
Thanks to Bushs war we have taken the fight to our enemy -- rather than the other way around.
With the specter of a nuclear armed Iran looming on the horizon Im satisfied that we now have a foothold in Iraq.
We are now in a better position to negotiate with Iran and other potential enemies from a position of strength.
I hope that the next President of The United States is a leader that understands that the security of the American people is NOT negotiable that we will not be intimidated.

Its difficult to resist the impulse to go there.
Osama has vehemently advised the United States to withdraw its troops from Iraq.
And so has Obama.
Obama and Osama DO seem to be on the same page in regards to how we should conduct the war against those that would destroy our way of life.
Conversely, our enemies dont seem to care for President Bush, one iota.
They dont seem to like McCain too much either

In his 1996 Declaration of War Against the Americans, Osama bin Laden cited the U.S. retreat from Somalia in 1993: "You have been disgraced by Allah and you withdrew. The extent of your impotence and weaknesses has become very clear. When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature they will like the strong horse.
Bin laden also believed at the time that America was a paper tiger as he put it.
I think we are now well on our way to dispossessing the radical Islamic terrorist of the above point of view.
As Mr. bin Laden said when people see a strong horse and a weak horse, by nature they will like the strong horse.
Thanks to President Bush and our brave soldiers we are now on our way to demonstrating that WE are the strong horse.
We are now in a better position to negotiate from a position of strength than we were before the invasion of Iraq.
We are more secure.
Before peace can be obtained one must have security.
Subservience to the threats of our enemies is not a tradition of a free people.
As I said earlier:
I hope that the next President of The United States is a leader that understands that the security of the American people is NOT negotiable that we will not be intimidated.
I disagree with Senator Obama.
Our success in Iraq was worth our time, worth our money, and worth putting up with undetermined consequences.
