The religious symbol for the ACLU would be either a ^hammer and sickle^ or a ^crescent and star^.
The central fact of the case is it’s a 43-foot-tall cross, said David Blair-Loy, legal director of the local chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. There’s nothing more religious than a cross.
Wrong. The cross is a symbol, a sacred symbol of the Christian faith but there is so much more to Christianity than the displaying of the cross. People’s lives are guided by Christ, including those in gov’t. Many make their decisions guided by faith. What will you do then, Mr. Blair-Loy? Sue someone in gov’t because they use their faith to help them make decisions at their job?
The ACLU is so stupidly annoyed by the tangible that they miss the much bigger picture. Christianity and religion are more, MUCH more, than the crosses we erect. It’s pervasive and entrenched in people’s hearts. Try suing that.
Right decision, wrong reasoning.
