this next paragraph is the money shot:

"Five states have issued apologies for slavery, but past proposals in Congress have stalled, partly over concerns that an apology would lead to demands for reparations - payment for damages."

Now that they have apologized for all of us they can get on to how much we owe

They can take their frakkin' BS apology and shove it where the sun don't shine!

Last time I checked, I’ve never had slaves. So, the house of idiots can take their apology and shove it.

I wish some Republican with stones would make a speech about how there will be no apology for slavery and Jim Crow until the Democrats officially acknowledge, apologize and pay reparations out of their own party coffers for their LEADING ROLE in maintaining and defending the institution of slavery, for birthing the KKK, for enacting and enforcing all of the Jim Crow legislation, and for opposing civil rights legislation throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Oh, let's not forget the Copperhead Democrats who pressed Lincoln to end the fighting and negotiate an immediate peace with the Confederates.

Oh yeah, and while they're at it, I’m still waiting for the Democrats’ outraged condemnation of the still-sitting senior Democrat senator Robert Byrd, who not only filibustered AGAINST the civil rights act of 1964 in the Senate, and was an officer in the KKK, but who dared to go on national TV (in the 21st century, yet) to demonstrate his evolved racial understanding by graciously conceding that you don't have to be black to be a "nigger."

I recently made these points to a Democrat of my acquaintance, who responded with the standard "yeah but the Democrats have changed" -- as if America as a whole hasn't.

Since fair is fair, I’ll be expecting any day now that letter of thanks from “black leaders” for my Republican ancestors who freed their ancestors from slavery.

Does anyone know the Bill Number? If so, please post it.

I need to make sure my Congress-critter did not vote for this crap.

WTF Americans fought and died for the freedom from slavery and I’ll be damned if any apologies are owed

The Cohen resolution does not mention reparations. It does commit the House to rectifying "the lingering consequences of the misdeeds committed against African-Americans under slavery and Jim Crow."

Here it comes.

Their reparations are just being here instead of starving in a 3rd world $#!t hole.

The Democrat party needs to apologize not the Federal or state governments. As usual the RATs have someone else pay their freight.

That’s already started. Obambi is leading the charge on this one, too. He was flapping his mouth earlier today about reparations being mandated. Wonder if he’s going to pay himself...

Yep....reperations is next. We have a bunch of fools running this country. We weren’t responsible for what went on 200+ years ago.

My parents came from central Italy in the early 1900’s. They didn’t bring slaves with them.

Why is Ms. Kilpatrick a member of the party that supported both slavery and Jim Crow laws? She has sided with the political party that consciously used its power to oppress her ancestors.

If there is a reparations bill to pay, send it to the Democratic National Committee.

Outrageous hypocrites!

Isn’t that cute, the party that supports Socialism (slavery to the state) is apologizing for a different form of slavery.
