New York City's famous Naked Cowboy was due in a San Francisco court on Monday after being arrested there Friday while singing in his underwear, the New York Post reported.

Robert Burck, clad only in skin-tight underpants, cowboy boots and a hat, was busted on a sidewalk just outside of Union Square for performing his act in a restricted area.

He said the West Coast cops didn't immediately recognize him as Times Square's most famous street performer — and mocked his familiar ensemble when they got him back to the station.

I guess they weren't looking at his butt.

The arresting officer claimed Burck violated rules posted in Union Square against soliciting and playing an instrument.
Playing the wrong instrument is a crime in the Special City.

Yes, by SF code of standards, playing guitar in your underwear isn’t allowed. Performing live sex acts in public in leather outfits is allowed.

He needs to be part of a duo — Adam and Steve, the Naked Cowboys! San Francisco would welcome them with open arms.

Number one, he wasn’t naked. Number two, how is it that this guy got arrested in FRisco for being a freak, and why can’t they arrest all of them?

San Fransissyco? Thats rich. The guy started his act right here in puritanical Cincinnati, and I don’t remember that he was ever harassed here, after all he is far from naked. Our Prosectutors were actually earning their pay back then bringing charges against the Contemporary “Art” Museum for displaying Mapletorpe’s photos of naked men with rifles up their rear ends.

I walked through Times Square a few times last week and was wondering where he was.

I’m surprised by this news. I would have figured he fit right in with the San Fran crowd.

BTW, He was his lawsuit against the M&M Mars store in Times Square for showing one of the M&M’s in underwear and a guitar on the big, lighted screen.

I fear I must agree with his arrest. The charge, however, should have been “public stupidity.”

There is a big list of activities we ought not engage in that goes beyond what our mothers explicitly warned us about.
