Snopes covering for Obama?
Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

Posted on 07/27/2008 6:46:01 AM PDT by connell

Most have now heard about the emails from soldiers in the field who were less than impressed by the fact that the Obamessiah failed to grace them with his holy presence. We posted on it yesterday.

Well, one of the first emails to travel around the net has now been "recanted" by the sender. The email itself was genuine, but now he is asking that people stop sending it around and posting it. He said it was meant only for his family.

The odds are good that what happened was that it got around, and since his name was attached, he caught a load of flak from his superiors. Military people are not supposed to show political preferences openly. Even though 75-85% of them are conservative, they're not supposed to let anyone know.

Snopes, of course, has used this as an excuse to discredit the entire theme of Obama's failure to visit the troops.

Concrete Bob has been communicating with Blackfive, and together, they are staying on top of the subject.

That Snopes would bend over backwards to defend a Democrat candidate should not come as any surprise. They've done it several times before.

Over the last few years, we (and others) have kept track of a few of these instances. We feel confident that a complete survey of Snopes' entries would reveal much more. In the meantime, read these articles and posts and add them to the list of evidence showing a left-leaning bias Snopes.

this needs to be spread around

we all should start going through SNOPES articles one by one and do whatever investigation we can to discredit that source, people are under some illusion that they are private investigators or something or law enforcement and that they are pure and honest

Anybody who's in the military and who isn't a conservative is a G-d damn fool.

Reminds me of Factcheck.org. People thought (and may still think) it is neutral. I looked at it one time and saw it was a left wing organization with a leftward bias pretending to be neutral.

Whoever forwarded an email from an active duty member serving in Iraq- with his identity intact- is a dam fool or worse. I urge anyone who sees the original or any other email from an active duty troop- to NOT forward it without purging the identity of the author.

Then, there’s also SNOPES and the Obama/Odinga/Kenya matter. Snopes unequivocably says these stories are false; despite the fact that there are hundreds and hundreds of articles which suggest quite, otherwise.

Obama is a piece of trash. See below.

First person experience of a Viet Nam Vet

INTERESTING:

MUDMARINE

I am a VHCM member, I spent 12 months in Vietnam (147th CH47-CE) as most
of us did. I am also a disabled veteran;

I have been a wheelchair user for 35 years now. A few months ago I went to
listen to Barack Obama at a local college. When he was done with his speech
I got in lineto ask him a question. When my time came, my question was;

‘Senator Obama; I work with disabled veterans throughout the VA Hospital
system, what is your plan for our veterans, especially our disabled veterans
who use the VA Hospitals for their care. I stated we need mandatory funding
for our VA system to ensure the care is available when needed, especially in
light of the current situation in Iraq and the numbers of troops who are
coming home with severe disabilities.’

He told one of his aide’s to get my name, blew me off, did not answer my
question and I never heard from him or the aide again. Is this who we want
as our ‘Commander in Chief’?

He wouldn’t even answer a ‘veterans’ question, regarding other veterans.

Take it for what it’s worth. I just thought I’d pass on my experience with
Mr.Obama.

YES. What you have said is true.

Even the lefty bloggers with their "fake stories" guard more rigorously the identity of "military" than some conservatives do. And this, yes, is a whole 'other story.

Well, you ought to work where I work. There are more G-d damn fools than you can shake a stick at--most of them people of diversity, but you'd be surprised.

Thank you for remarking on Snopes - I have often found I disagreed with their ‘assessment’ and doing the CYA dance with ‘issue under consideration’ or ‘still to be authenticated’... or some other legalese ... when they didn’t want to commit.

The internet is filled with weenies who have never joined the real world - lurking behind their machines sucking their thumbs and replicating whatever keeps them happily within their chosen comfort zone.

We do fall for the written word as most of us have been brought up through published news and of late verbalized written word. We need to weigh the sources of those words.

Thank heaven for forae on the internet where free speech still has a place for inspection and introspection.

Can you imagine our news sources in a few years when CAIR continues its rapid progression into mandatory and legally sanctioned silence of any anti-Islamic exchange (truthful or otherwise) ??

Like in World War Two, when the reporters would interview Captain Jim or Private Richard.

There was a bit of this name protection early on in Afghanistan and even during the initial push into Iraq, but not anymore.

I used to work with a guy who was a proud former Marine who was a staunch Democrat, right down to having BDS. I never could understand how he could be a member of a party that reviled the warrior tribe that he was so proud of. That disconnect was just jarring to me.

Idid receive this e-mail, and I thought that was a little dangerous for the military man’s identity to be attached. I did forward it on, but I purged his name before I did.

I don’t know if this was Snopes or not, but there is another one that supposedly debunks urban myths. I received an e-mail from a fellow co-worker a while back recounting all the mysterious deaths associated with the Clintons. Sure enough, a liberal I work with only too gladly directed us to either Snopes or the other web site, where they tried to debunk all the deaths as either with Clinton were a bunch of “conspiracy theorists”. Of course, I tried to debunk the debunking, but I fear the damage had been done.

A lot of the language used in the urban myth story was right out of the pages of the Democrats’ talking points. I was wondering if I was the only one who had suspected this. It seems like every time a good story makes the e-mail rounds, someone tells us to go to Snopes, and I always wonder from where do they get their facts and how do we know that they are giving out accurate information?
