ANN COULTER: BUT WILL THEY RESPECT HIM IN THE MORNING? ("hot lap dances")

BUT WILL THEY RESPECT HIM IN THE MORNING?
July 23, 2008

Back before the Republican Party was saddled with John McCain as its nominee, The New York Times called him "the only Republican who promises to end the George Bush style of governing from and on behalf of a small, angry fringe." The paper praised him for "working across the aisle to develop sound bipartisan legislation" and predicted that he would appeal to "a broader range of Americans than the rest of the Republican field."

At the same time, the Times denounced "the real" Rudy Giuliani as "a narrow, obsessively secretive, vindictive man" and Mitt Romney as "shape-shifting," claiming it's "hard to find an issue on which he has not repositioned himself to the right since he was governor of Massachusetts."

Here are a few issues I found that Romney hadn't switched positions on, and it wasn't "hard": tax cuts, health care, same-sex marriage, illegal immigration and the surge in Iraq. The only issue on which Romney had changed his position was abortion, irritating people who would prefer for Republicans to refuse to run in places like Massachusetts and New York City in order to preserve their perfect pro-life credentials.

Say, how do "hot lap dances" affect global warming? Last week, a Gore supporter, Louis Posner, enraged over the result of the 2000 presidential election and founder of the Democratic voter organization Voter March, was arrested in New York on charges of prostitution and money laundering.

According to the police, in addition to sponsoring events with Vincent Bugliosi about Bush stealing the 2000 election, Posner ran a prostitution ring out of his club, the Hot Lap Dance Club, where employees say they were required to have sex with Posner in order to work there
There were so many quotes to choose from to insert after the title. That one just kinda stood out...

Oh, horsecrap, Ann. Romney was for McCain-Kennedy before he was against it. And his health care plan SHOULD be something to flip-flop away from.

Face it, none of the choices this election were all that stellar. But pretending your guy didn't have his share of warts is foolishness.

I know. Miss Coulter, has quite a way with words. I liked this line:

...if only the entire American media weren't with the Messiah on his "Ich Bin Ein Berlitzer" tour...

“BUT WILL THEY RESPECT HIM IN THE MORNING?”
July 23, 2008

COLUMN SNIPPET: “Say, how do “hot lap dances” affect global warming? Last week, a Gore supporter, Louis Posner, enraged over the result of the 2000 presidential election and founder of the Democratic voter organization Voter March, was arrested in New York on charges of prostitution and money laundering.

No wonder Posner was so testy about the 2000 election — he wanted to preserve the glory of the Clinton years.”

I see Ann Coulter is still defending Myth Romney.

Attempts to downplay Romney's life long liberalism and morph him into a conservative haven't worked. It'll take more then mere rhetoric from one GOP primary campaign to convince conservatives, Romney is one of us.

Oh, and he had to cut a check to Planned Parenthood as well? Using Ann's reasoning, Schwarzenegger would be a great candidate (if he were born American) as he did what he had to do to get elected statewide in California, regardless of whom it irritated.

For the record, I ran as a pro-life conservative in liberal Connecticut for state rep in 1996, and I lost big; but I didn't lie.

I think John McCain IS unpublishable. Not that I really cared what he said back then about conservatives and I sure as heck don't care what he says now when he's running for President. The truth is he shouldn't be surprised the MSM turned its back on him. That was as inevitable as Algore proclaiming hot lap dances cause global warming!

Well-written, but no great revelation. I typed myself blue in the face reminding everyone why the MSM loved McCain—because they knew he would be the weakest candidate—and that they could take him down easy. He still seems to be dazed at the treatment he’s getting.

I give her kudos for digging up his prior NYT opeds and reminding us why we don’t like him.

Rubbish.

Romney by his very lifestyle demonstrates his conservatism.

The fact that he played politics in order to convince idiot voters here in Massachusetts to elect him is simply evidence of his pragmatism.

I would not have tried to walk tightropes as Mitt did in order to convince anybody of anything, but I would never run for political office either.

IMHO, the most serious criticisms of Romney are his and his families lack of military experience, and that horrible health care plan. The rest is just trumped up over hyped nonsense

Maybe in his lifestyle -- but not in his 'governing' as a liberal's liberal
who delivered a fatal dose of atropine and mercury to the Mass. GOP.

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to New Hampshire Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”

- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”
[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."

- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006

"Imagine the important reporting we could have gotten on the Hot Lap Dance Club story if only the entire American media weren't with the Messiah on his "Ich Bin Ein Berlitzer" Tour! "

OK, it's getting hard keeping up with them between the whoring and touring. Someone should tabulate the carbon footprint for Democratic conventioneer lap dances. Maybe Al Gore could take up this accounting project? What's the jet fuel of Obama's world tour doing to the ozone layer?
