Posted on 07/21/2008 12:16:06 PM PDT by SE Mom
In his interview with CBS News, Obama says:
Logan: Because you do have a situation seven years on into this war where Osama bin Laden and all his lieutenants and all the leaders of the Taliban, theyre still there. And theyre inside Pakistan.
Obama: Right. Its a huge problem. And first of all, if we hadnt taken our eye off the ball, we might have caught them before they got into Pakistan and were able to reconstitute themselves. Several times in recent interviews, Obama has referred to "taken our eye off the ball" in terms of the invasion of Iraq, which began in March of 2003. We don't know precisely when Osama bin Laden entered Pakistan, but it is generally believed that he escaped Tora Bora and crossed the border sometime in late November or the beginning of December 2001.
(Somehow the U.S. took its collective eyes off the ball to prevent an event that occurred in December 2001 by sending troops to another country starting in March 2002 for an invasion that began in 2003.
It's not as if the geopolitical challenges of sending U.S. troops into Pakistan suddenly appeared in March 2003. Once Osama crossed the border, the potential cost of pursuing him i.e., a civil war in a country with nuclear weapons became higher and the consequences became riskier.
Also note that CBS' Lara Logan forces Obama to concede that his oft-touted call to kill Osama bin Laden in Pakistani territory is actually current U.S. policy. )

First time I’d seen your Freeper name and it had me LOL!
Rub a dub-dub it’s Obama’s net scrub.
I loathe BOM and his wife, Michelle. Who, by the way, is now ‘one of the beautiful people’, a celebrity in her own right, or at least as a reflection of BOM. She’s featured in the celebrity magazines, a la Paris, Madonna, etc.. What will they do when he loses? The press coverage is sickening, and it’s just going to get worse until McCain stands up on his hind legs and tells it like it is and BOM makes a hugh mistake, something the press can’t whitewash or ignore.
Osama bin Laden has been dead for some time now.

If con is the opposite of pro, doesn't that mean congress is the opposite of progress?
Perhaps. Meanwhile- it appears Obama is brain-dead or at the least- impaired.
But it stands to reason that, if I didn't have to hunton peck, I'd have posted more and you'd probably have noticed me earlier . . . but then I'd have a different screen name, so . . . . Dear Lord, I think I'm falling into an infinite loop.
New definition of infinity:
Put Obama in front of an infinite number of microphones for an infinite number of hours in front of an infinite number of reporters and not only will he eventually say something intelligent, but at least one member of the MSM will report it.
Bwahahahahah, this is the best front man the dems could find.
His FORMER pal, willie klintoon, passed on three offers to turn the SOB over to us.
BO is a very dangerous person.
“The election is Nov. 21st
Actually, it’s November 4th, 2008.”
Way to go.....we’ve had this grand scheme going on FR that we’d play up that the election is on the 21st for the demorats!
Gee, Barry we have already captured some of Bin Laden’s top henchman and are holding them in GITMO. However, you want to turn them loose or give them US civil trials. What if we captured Bin Laden, what would you propose we do with him? Would you favor taking him out or would that not set well with the pacifist crowd? You said that the reason we were attacked on 9-11 is that we were too arrogant ...should we then allow you to apologize to Bin Laden? Be careful what you wish for.
Don't worry!!! Those in Chicago who have had to listen to this pompus blowhard says he really starts wearing on you.

It doesnt really. If he gets Bin Laden in the crosshairs, hell shoot to kill as will Bush, a point Obama concedes. If he gets Al Qaedas training camps in the crosshairs, hell pressure Pakistan to move against them, a strategy thats failed dismally under the GOP but which will work like a charm, I suppose, once its infused with magic Messiah mojo and greenmail in the form of a tripling in the amount of non-military aid we currently send to the country. Are Pakistanis really going to jettison their ethno-religious identification with denizens of the tribal areas and go storming into AQ camps when their militarys had a hell of a time there over the past few years, just because the amount of U.S. lucre theyre getting increased by some arbitary amount? Cant hurt to try, but set expectation phasers on lowest low.
As for the point noted by Geraghty at the very end, about the Iraq invasion of 2003 leading us to take our eye off the ball in December 2001, Im guessing Obamas thinking of this WaPo piece from 2006. Exit question borrowed from Ace: To the extent that Obamas hinting hell hit the training camps unilaterally if Pakistan balks, does the lefts mantra that killing terrorists only breeds more terrorists apply in that case too or does Barry get to use his get out of talking points free card?
On that point...posted this earlier today:
ISI is a secret Agencie....
6 years ago the world would have died laughing at the mere thought of a President named “Barack Hussein Obama”. IT’S INSANE!
He was making fun of those leftist moonbats who think it’s Bush’s fault.
Much better. lol
It can’t go on like this forever. I have to think there will be a backlash at some point from regular decent Americans...?? There has to be a breaking point.
YES! I think that every DAY. Then I start worrying that we’re too far gone...that maybe the ordinary American is not so common anymore..
Lol, thanks Ernest, that’s a funny one. About 760KB too! I have the perfect bird to put over him but that would make it a meg!
Thanks a million for passing on that good summation of the Obamination and his idiocy.
I love your sense of humor. Seems to be rare these days.
I swear, NO ONE COULD MAKE THIS STUFF UP. WHO in their wildest dreams, four short years ago would have believed ANYONE could come across with more condescension than Kerry?
Didnt we think he was pretty much the pinnacle?
Hah! Never say never:)
No matter how bad things are, they can always get worse.
You think Odumbo is bad, believe me, it gets worse down the line.
So this really is about as good as the Dems can do?
I have a long history of being among the 10% that didn’t get the word.
In a word, Obama is a featherweight.
Also, if you spell check, he’s a misspelled word.
Why you little upstart - There will be a change all right.
Just wait 'til I get my hands on you.
There has to be a breaking point.
I am trying to imagine how the upper echelons of the rat party are sleeping about now. They are not totally stupid, they just think the voters are idiots and they have to be wondering just how much of this clown they can stand before they have to correct their mistake.
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
You forgot jug-eared.
Those in Chicago who have had to listen to this pompus blowhard says he really starts wearing on you.
I already find him more irritating than John Kerry and I thought that was impossible.
Iron Munro that is a funny pic. It is troubling to me that we have someone up for election that can’t even remember a simple time line. It seems to me that there are a lot of peopel out there that have forgotten the reasons we have gone to war in the first place. I don’t particularly like war, but it is a neccessary evil. There is no doubt in my mind that fanatics would not hesitate to keep bombing our citizens if we stop being alert to the problem of terrorism. A vote for Obama is a vote for going soft on terrorists. Seriously, libs seem to think you can hug them and sing Kum By Yah and we will all be friends.
Saddam and sons were terrorists PERIOD...there WAS a wmd program in place (yellow cake just recently removed from Iraq), he broke the cease fire agreements from the first gulf war: no fly zones constantly being patrolled and if we lose this war as the hypocrats are desperate to lose from day 1, terrorists will only be MORE emboldened to attack us again, and probably will succeed in another 9-11.
Hypocrats: the party of the mentally disturbed.
O Lord Insufferable Obi From Nairobi, who did you say dropped the ball?
Clinton declined repeated offers of bin Laden by Sudan, then missed this 2000 opportunity to kill bin Laden in Afghanistan.
Obama is going to get shredded in the debates, no MSM cover for him :)
Like the scene in the movie Airplane.
It was sarcasm, Always Right posted something immediately after for those who may have not caught this.
So this really is about as good as the Dems can do?
Adolph Hitler placed more confidence, trust, and faith in military flag ranked officers and their staff than does Obama. (those who have studied military history will grasp how historically significant this criticism really is...)
