WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Democrat Barack Obama warned Wednesday about the danger of "fighting the last war" as he pledged to focus on emerging nuclear, biological and cyber threats if elected president.

Two goals of his administration would be to secure all loose nuclear material during his first term and to rid the world of nuclear weapons, Obama told an audience before a roundtable discussion at Purdue University.

Obama said adhering to nonproliferation treaties would put pressure on nations such as North Korea and Iran. North Korea has tested a nuclear weapon and Iran has an energy program the Bush administration warns could be a precursor to nuclear weapon development."

Thats it? Thats what you got? Hey Iran! Adhere to non-poliferation treaties...or, or, we'll send another strongly worded letter! And it will be stronger than last time!

Is the pinhead smoking crack again?

He believes that weakening the US would set a good example and that the dictators would then weaken their own countries.

Holy crap. This could really happen. All that talk all those years ago about “ridding the world of nuclear weapons” is going to happen. Or the USA will be rid of nuclear weapons and another country won’t and there we will be.

Damn, this is even scarier than I thought.

Like someone said yesterday, Bambi’s speeches are best described as a cluster of words searching for an idea!

this type of ignorance is why I am firmly behind McCain, warts and all. Obama is a naive dunce. He is the culmination of 50 years of failed liberal ideas. It is amazing he got this far.

In other words, any wars that doesn’t require fighting he will fight.

So he’s going to eliminate missle defense AND get rid of our nuclear missles.

I guess he might as well disband the military. Won’t be any need for them when Obama brings world piece.

The changes Obama envisions includes his own secret police.

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

Or...put another way...don't fight any of the wars we've won.

We won the cold war, and he seems hell bent on losing this one...even as we are clearly winning it. He will snatch defeat right out of the jaws of victory.

Gee, Barry, all those nuclear non proliferation treaties, UN sanctions and general hand wringing didn’t stop N. Korea from getting enough nuclear material for an atomic fizzle and to share materials and know how with Syria. Iran remains defiant and without military intervention by someone will likely test their nuke in 2009. I suppose as President you can pack your little hat and umbrella, fly to Tehran and negotiate “peace in our time” face to face with Ahmadinejad...it worked so well the last time it was tried.

With a mere piece of paper we could have "Peace for our Time".

Any Photoshoppers out there want to replace Chamberlain's head with Obama's?

Richard Clarke can help Obama fight cyberterrorism.

He did that in past administrations.

There was just one problem....Obama's minions decided to fly jets, rather than crawl through internet wires, when they planned their attack on the US.

U.S. Sees Threat of Information Warfare Washington Times (12/27/00) P. B7 Malicious groups "are doing reconnaissance today on our networks, mapping them, looking for vulnerabilities," says Richard Clarke, the top aide to President Clinton on infrastructure protection and counterterrorism.
