WASHINGTON —Sen. John McCain on Saturday affirmed his family’s ties to the Philippines and expressed his wish to come back after visiting the country several years ago. McCain, the presumptive candidate of US President George W. Bush’s Republican Party, recalled how his father and grandfather had served in the Philippines as soldiers. This apparently served as an icebreaker in his first meeting with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo here on Saturday afternoon...

In his remarks to the Philippine media after his meeting with Ms Arroyo, McCain said: “Again we have a long relationship—a warm one, and my family personally has a long relationship with the great nation of the Philippines and I’m grateful for the opportunity to, not only renew, our friendship but to affirm it and I look forward to visiting again, which I had not done in some years.”

Of all the “freebie” Filipino community newspapers in L.A., the Asian Journal is “probably” the ONLY fair newspaper (it publishes Fil-Am Michelle Malkin articles twice a week). My Filipina sister in law is probably the only Republican Filipina I know of who has it in her house.

The rest? It’s an Obama/Dumocrat/I hate Republicans love-a-thon.
