Arnold Schwarzenegger dents green credentials with Dodge Challenger
Telegraph ^ | 7/1/08 | Laura Clout

Arnold Schwarzenegger has risked accusations of green hypocrisy by driving around in a gas-guzzling Dodge Challenger Coupe.

The Hollywood star-turned Californian governor has built a reputation as a leading green campaigner and last Friday told a climate-change meeting in Florida: "America is so addicted to oil it will take us years to wean ourselves from it, and to look for new ways to feed our addiction is not the answer."

In an interview last year, the governor spoke of his wish to create "a whole new industry of clean cars and clean engines and components to build those engines."

To this end, he did sell his fleet of Hummers.

But the former actor's green credentials may have been slightly dented after he was spotted driving the coupe in Los Angeles.

The vehicle, which does just 13 miles to the gallon, boasts a 6.1 litre V8 engine and can reach 60mph in under five seconds.

Schwarzenegger, 60, took the car for a spin with his sons Patrick, 14, and Christopher, 10, and his wife Maria Shriver, 52.

The model, an SRT8, is similar to The Dodge Charger made famous by The Dukes of Hazzard television series in the 1970s and 80s.

Ah, but this and his Gulfstream firmly cement his

ELITIST

credentials.

And that’s what the “green movement” is all about - reducing everyone else’s lifestyle so that they elites’ lifestyle appears to be that much more above everyone else.

I have a 2003 Mustang Cobra. Motor’s as strong as Arnold’s, and I get 28 to 30 mpg on the highway and 15 to 18 in the city.

Oh yeah, it’s also faster than the Challenger.

Good for Arnold for driving what he likes. It’s a mans car. I envy him.

There’s plenty of oil out there if the Dhims would let us drill for it, and refine it.

I hate the phrase “addicted” to oil. The whole world is addicted to and using energy. No energy, you die. Simple as that. Food is energy. Try not being “addicted” to food. Again, you die. No energy, no life, goodbye.

What do the dims, lefties, “environ-mental (very mental) ists” and “liberals” not understand about this?

Who is the Idiot reporter. ‘Vanishing Point’ is the Charger Movie. Not even close to a Dodge Charger.

Was it Bryant Gumball?

They understand it.

They also understand, at least deep down, even if they won’t acknowledge it, that

energy use = individual freedom

and individual freedom, when unrelated to consequence-free sexual behavior, is anathema to a leftist.

I’ll stay “addicted to oil” as long as the Liberals are addicted to stupidity.

“The model, an SRT8, is similar to The Dodge Charger made famous by The Dukes of Hazzard television series in the 1970s and 80s.”

Frickign retards in the press don’t know anything more about groovy cars than they do about guns.

Vanishing Point did have a Charger as a co-star, but so, of course, did the Dukes of Hazzard.

“And that’s what the “green movement” is all about - reducing everyone else’s lifestyle so that they elites’ lifestyle appears to be that much more above everyone else.”

That’s not how I interpret the motives of the elite. I think they want the little people to live simple, clean, green lifestyles, so that the elite’s planet isn’t dirtied up. Elites don’t concern themselves with little people, so they are unconcerned about comparisons of lifestyle.
But to have all those dirty little people dirtying up their planet will never do.

“energy use = individual freedom”

Same for the 2nd ammendment. Lefties are afraid of individuals owning guns. Guns keep the government afraid of the populace.

Freedom is the most radical political idea in all of human history.

The lefties can’t handle it.

The elitist lefties hate “the people”.

‘Vanishing Point’ is the Charger Movie. Not even close to a Dodge Charger.

To clarify, the movie "Vanishing Point" is the Challenger movie, Dukes of Hazard used a '69 Charger. Only things similar to Termoinators car was the color, Make, and number of doors. New Charger has 4...
