I would’ve raised Hell.
They’ll get a pass.
They always do.
Instead, Marie performed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” which also is known as the “black national anthem.”

Michelle Obama is now known as Rene Marie?
She was probably auditioning for B-HO’s inauguration party.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of CHANGE.
Lift every voice and sing
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us,
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears have been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, Our God, where we met Thee;
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand.
True to our GOD,
True to our native land James Weldon Johnson June 17, 1871 - June 26, 1938
It's up to us to see it ends - Nov 4th
How did Denver turn so crazy?
You know, I thought for a while that we were getting over our racial issues as a nation. As a caucasian, I don’t care what color another person is. I address them as fellow human beings on an equal plain. This election has shown in living color (no pun intended) that racial harmony will never be possible because some folks love the attention that controversy brings more than they do peace among the races.
Black racism is rampant. Anybody who thinks otherwise is dumb as a box of rocks. Any white who would of sung a song with race connotations to it in place of the National Anthem would have been immediately fired. The mayor would be falling all over himself in apology, self loathing and taking a supine position. It would be worse then the whole Don Imus fiasco by an order of magnitude.
Good Lord. I’d have definitely interrupted those proceedings.
I learn something new every day on FreeRepublic.
I never knew about the “black national anthem” and I think I’m a really well read fellow.
Regardless, what she sang was NOT the National Anthem, and it was inappropriate. The mayor was also wrong in not having the music stopped and the correct anthem sung.
A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Heads up; there’s a poll on the link.
As I listened to her sing, I assumed she would eventually move into the traditional Star Spangled Banner. I called her personally this afternoon to understand what happened. She explained her song was an artistic expression of her love for her country. She said she meant no disrespect of any kind and that her song was in no way intended to be a political statement. She apologized for any problems she may have created.
What a load of BULL. She knew exactly what she was doing. Lying b***h.
Typical racist: she's a liar.

She made it clear how she feels, she hates America.
But that's not what she did.
Instead, Marie performed the song "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing," which also is known as the "black national anthem."
When she finished, the proceedings moved forward, and the "Star-Spangled Banner" was never performed.

Real life approaches satire.
From the 27 Oct 2007 weekly satire column “Semi-News”....
Obama Explains National Anthem Stance
Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesnt follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.
As Ive said about the flag pin, I dont want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song Id Like to Teach the World to Sing. If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.

Like it or not, the blacks in this country seem to be in a lot better shape,than millions of Blacks in Darfur, Rawanda,and In south Africa.
How does Robert Mugabe treat them???
This woman is just a racist black and full of self Pity.

She sang the words to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner. I would've cut off her mic and started singing the real anthem as loudly as I could.
