And of course, once this woman was released from the hospital with her broken jaw, she was promptly arrested and charged with interfering with a government official. It took a jury less than an hour to declare her not guilty.
What do you expect the cop to do, slam a MAN to the floor? /sarc
What was with this cop?
I’d be so banned if I wrote what’s on my mind.
The T-shirt is supposed to go under the sweater, dear...
Oh Lord! That’s so nasty. You could be arrested for that.
Ewwww!
He’s a jerk.
If I have a bad day... you might get locked out of your computer for a while. If HE has a bad day... you get body slammed. How people respond depends on what tools are available. We give cars, guns, and money to the police. What can we expect?
BTW, as an ethical sysadmin, I never(ALMOST) lock people out of their computers for personal spite.

If it was my niece I would have wanted to be near her too. Not sure of the second officer. Definitely over reaction. I take it he did not know the EMT's were working on her niece.
I had a similar experience when my brother was involved in an accident. The police were keeping people away, and one of his friends kept on going near the car to see if he was okay.
I was standing near the officer and when he told him, if you come over here again you will be in cuffs, I gently told his friend, "Come on _________, let the EMT's do what they have to do.
He walked away with me without giving the police one more problem.
Video clearly shows she was not interfering with the EMTs and was causing no trouble, according to her people, but the scumbag lawyer is talking about state of mind as if this was some highly stressful situation. I would also like to know "his state of mind", because only an arrogant fruitloop would do this to someone whose relative was lying on the floor being treated for a head injury.
“A Westchester County jury, however, took less than an hour in May to acquit Marquez of the obstruction charge. Weeks later she filed a $11.3 million lawsuit against the police department.”
You better believe it!!
Sounds like an assault to me.
Well, there you go. She objected. Guilty! Lock her up!
Oh, PUHLEEZ...teach me how! there are few ner’do wells at work I would love to do that to.ha.
And people wonder why I do not trust police.
Google BOFH for background.

There are two types of cops today: those who are servants to the people, and those that feel they are to rule over the people. Sadly there seems to be more and more of the latter.
Ok, I’ve calmed down. She’ll win a few million, and while living well is definitely the best revenge, I’d applaud her if she devoted just a fraction of it to the second best.
Be that what it may.
OMG, you can be charged FOR THAT? That could be just about anything. Call a bureaucrat on the phone while he's counting beans, "AHA, you're obstructing my bean counting! Body slam you." What am I missing?
On the other hand, it DID look like she was being a royal PITA.
Ok I’ll say it then. The gal’s brother’s and male friends should drive that POS JBT out into the woods and beat him until he is black and blue, and cries like a little girl with spit bubbles coming out of his nose.
and then, when he does not personally apologize to the woman with sufficient sincerity he should go back out to the woods for a much longer stay, until it get cold enough to snow in hell.
It looked like she was saying “Get your hands off me” or “Don’t push me” which may or may not qualify as being a PITA, depending on the circumstances.
If I am not mistaken the Gestapo was created by recruiting police officers to fill the positions. I’m sure they all believed they were just doing their jobs.
The cops were there to help, 'fer crying out loud, but she's got to throw her little minority fit at least once a day, I suppose. Some example she set for her niece.
Actually, I think the cop set a better example for the niece, and as a result she'll be a lot more likely to behave in a civil manner around other people when she grows up.
Granted, the punishment for her refusal to cooperate was a bit severe, but I think physical restraint was perhaps necessary and that the cop can make a pretty plausible case that he didn't mean to hurt her. For instance, looking closely at the tape, I don't think he meant to pin her arm to her side. If it had been free, she could've broken her fall.
Wish I were on the jury. I wouldn't give her a dime. Maybe a nickel, but definitely not a dime.
I'm laughing so hard, that it's difficult to type!!
I think she forgot rule #1:
Bootlicker!
“Granted, the punishment for her refusal to cooperate was a bit severe,”
That shows where you’re coming from. You think a cop has the power to administer “punishment”.
If HE has such power then so do I.
Pretty simple.
you do not consider the power of arrest “punishment?”
placemarker
you do not consider the power of arrest punishment?
It would perhaps be punishment if it were used to get back at someone for something and the arrest were otherwise undeserved. So possibly in this case it was used as such, but generally the power of arrest is a tool cops use to keep order. An arrest my be addressed via the system. A savage assult committed by a cop because he didn’t like some attitude or other is a whole ‘nother thing.
In fact if a person treated as this woman seems to have been, responded on the spot with a massive ass kicking delivered to the cop, they’d get off scott free if I were on the jury.
He could've body slammed her to the floor ten times harder if he had wanted to. If you ask me, he was rather gentle and used the force necessary to effectuate an immediate arrest, as LEOs are charged to do. Unfortunately, the lady went into the floor at the wrong angle and with a force perhaps a little harder than the cop meant to use. Easy to understand as this is not an exact science.
He should be returned to duty with full back-pay, a clean slate, and maybe a little extra duty, i.e., training on how to properly body slam an uncooperative ho who's resisting arrest. imho
Oh, she was “resisting” now?
This coward has got himself into trouble. Hope you don't have your pathetically angry heart set on this clown getting thanked for his unprofessional conduct.
Women are pretty much the likely ones these sissy-boys-with-badges pick on in this manner. I know that from personal experience. I never met one who started something with me, on the job or off, who had the balls to follow through. A few friends of mine have had the same experience.
If that was my wife the asshat did that to I’d be in jail.
Your otherworldy defense of this testosterone front loaded, authoritarian animal is proof that being “conservative” is no guarantee of sanity or character. I wonder if I see a blue line.
Either way, it is frightening that anyone could justify that kind of unwarranted brutality with a straight face. No wonder cops have turned into such brutes right before our eye.
But, hey, if you're such a bad a** and are itching to prove it to the cops, my advice is that you go to the next crowd control situation where you see cops involved and YOU start some crap with them. Go ahead, pick the weakest cop you see. Then you'll have all opportunity you so desperately want to demonstrate your badness to them. Go ahead, Mr. Bad A**, show us all how tough you are. (Yeah, right. All blow, no go. Typical cop hater.)
I think I see a red stripe. What are you doing here when DU would be so welcoming?
What I would really like to say to you would probably get me banned here at FR.
Everything I said was the truth. You’ve exhibited all the sensitivity to it a typical leftist would.
Thank goodness the FBI and US Justice Dept were able to see the video, the pictures, and talk to everyone involved and come to the conclusion that a crime has been committed here. Unless you were personally involved in this, my suggestion would be for to shut up!

Buwahahaha!
Stop...yer killing me.
No, jackboot thug authoritarianism is not the mark of conservatism. I think YOU’RE in the wrong place. Maybe YOU should try DU...or stormfront.
The above is quite a performance. You are quite in your own sad little world.
I have no desire to prove anything to anyone. I don't think I am particularly tough in comparison some of the people I know. In fact I'd guess I never really have faced down an actual tough guy in my life AND THAT WAS MY POINT.
As I wrote and you completely missed: I don't offer attitude to cops (or anyone else). I don't disrespect cops (or anyone else) without (real) cause. I don't START trouble with cops (or anyone else). WTF a “crowd control situation” has to do with anything is beyond me. And that silly crap about picking on “the weakest cop” there may have made some kind of sense back in 1950 but today the “weakest cop” there WOULD ACTUALLY BE PRETTY DAMN PATHETIC.
You have answered both posts with remarks that have nothing much to do with what was written. Get out of your delusional world and into the real one before you lose track of where the portal is. (Judging by the last three sentences in your semi psychotic rant I'd say that danger is real).
