Manson Follower Susan Atkins Being Considered For Release
KRXI TV Channel 11 ^ | June 13, 2008

Authorities say Susan Atkins -- a Charles Manson follower convicted in the 1969 murder of actress Sharon Tate -- could soon be released from prison because she is near death.

State corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton says the now 59-year-old Atkins is terminally ill and is being considered for so-called "compassionate release."

Thornton says the corrections department is reviewing the request, which would then be passed to a state sentencing court.

Such releases are rare -- only 16 percent of requests were granted last year.

Thornton did not say what sort of illness Atkins has.

“considered for so-called “compassionate release”
Puh-lezz. How much compassion did she show for Sharon Tate?

Gee... how come Sharon Tate wasn’t spared from a brutal slaughter for compassionate release?

“Atkins helped stab Tate, the pregnant wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski, 16 times during a 1969 rampage that saw six others murdered.”

Yeah, she deserves “compassionate release.” Spit.

She should rot in prison! She put herself there! Throw away the key! No way out! Cold Blooded Murder = Life IN PRISON!

She should have been terminated 35 years ago. Instead she got a life sentence. That should mean what it says. Let her die in prison.

Right, and Sharon Tate was pregnant at the time of her brutal death.

Let her die in prison. How can one show “compassion” for such a wicked person? Her sentence was “life in prison” not “get out early if you get sick”. I also don’t trust this one who has tried many times before, is this just another ruse?

Can we take a vote on that?

Mine is a resounding, HELL NO!

Gee... how come Sharon Tate wasn’t spared from a brutal slaughter for compassionate release?

Sharon Tate and her nearly full-term baby (a boy if memory serves). The Manson killers brutally cut the baby out of Sharon's womb even though she begged for them to save the infant.

She actually assisted in the murders of 7 people. So of course she should be considered for compassionate parole.

Her sentence was “life in prison”

Manson and his cretins were actually sentenced to death, but there sentence was commuted to life (with possibility of parole, no less) after the death penalty was struck down by the courts.

She should be shownn just as much compassion as she showed to Sharon Tate, who was with child at the time of her murder.
