Thorns of a Dilemma - Hillary Running for VP
American Spectator ^ | June 5th, 2008 | Quin Hillyer

Please throw us into that briar patch.

A lot of Democrats continue to think that if Barack Obama picks Hillary Clinton as his running mate (if, that is, he actually gets the nomination at the convention, which I still think is not entirely a done deal), their party will have a "dream ticket" that will unite women, black voters in droves, the chablis-and-brie set (i.e. "limousine liberals") and white working class voters in an unstoppable juggernaut.

If only conservatives could be so lucky. But maybe we can make our own luck. Maybe we can express fear and trembling, beg the liberals not to throw us into the Obama-Clinton briar patch, and watch them fall for our faux fear.

But it's hard to believe they would be so flat-out stupid.

It might even be easier to run against Billary at the bottom of the ticket than it would be to beat them at the top. It was bizarre enough to imagine Bill Clinton as "First Gentleman" (or First Lout: "Better put some ice on that"). But trying to imagine him as the Second Fiddle to a Second Fiddle is enough to make any sane voter run away screaming. Not only would we have a frighteningly angry, priapic narcissist trying to butt in on presidential decision-making, but we would have a frighteningly angry priapic narcissist trying to butt in past a vice president who herself is trying to butt in on presidential decision-making. And all while both of them will surely again be dodging real subpoenas and imaginary sniper fire.

AND CAN YOU imagine how easy it would be for John McCain to contrast himself with Obama-Billary? He's already going to be erasing Obama's image as a change agent and replacing it with the truth of Obama as a conventional liberal.

A great article on why conservatives wouldn’t vote for an Obama/Hillary ticket. Unfortunately, liberals and “independents” get to vote too.

Liberals shouldn't be allowed to vote. They're just too damn'd stupid.

Wow... an article written by someone who hasn’t paid attention to the last 5 months at all... I wish I could live under a rock and then get someone to pay men for my keen politican insight.

The point of Hillary as VP would be to pick up the 50% of Hillary supporters who will vote for John McCain otherwise. Probably a third of them won’t support any ticket that doesn’t have Hillary at the top, but it’ll do. Hillary Clinton has proven to be the candidate of the white working class democrat, and Obama will need that vote to win in November.

Unless a scandal drops, this combination would be hard to beat.

I just had to ping this, because of the "frighteningly angry, priapic narcissist" thing. :'D

IMO:

I don’t like the idea of a Obama/Clinton ticket for ONE reason: BILL....

He is the stranglehold on Hillary and anything she might attempt to do in the future....

Course I don’t worry about it, I’m a Rep. and will not vote for them anyways, but it is a big big mistake if Obama picks her for his V.P.

Hillary:

“Barack, I’ll concede if you name me as your vice presidential candidate. Otherwise, I will run as an independent. You have 24 hours to comply. I will see you at the convention.”

The witch and her frighteningly angry, priapic narcissist partner ain’t done yet. Awaiting an Arkancide or Ft. Marcy Park moment. Let a snobby little upstart from Illinois take what she and Billy Jeff belive should be theirs?!?!?! They’re just talking some shuck and jive to distract the “messiah” until he’s focused on something else and then............

The “messiah” will learn what so many have learned, corner a Clinton and get in their way and “things happen.” Very unpleasant things.

I would have thought queen of clubs would have been more accurate, considering how many around her have gotten the you-know-what beaten out of them...

I’ll believe it when I hear it from her own evil lips, see it with my own eyes, and they drag her and Billy Jeff off the stage kicking and screaming! If she does “concede”, dollars to donuts she and Billy Jeff will do everything behind the scenes to shaft the muzzie-I-hate-whitey “messiah”. No way any Clinton accepts defeat and goes quietly and gracefully. Remember all those Arkancide and Fr. Marcy Park “tragedies”......nobody, nobody gets in a Clinton’s way or thwarts them getting what they want without paying a very high price, to say the least.

... and Obama-Clinton start looking like more elitist versions of Bonnie and Clyde ... remember Merle Haggard's song about the outlaw duo, a line of which noted that "the legend made Bonnie the head of the game."

He should take the advice but Merle never wrote it.
