I’ve alway understood that the C.E. designation is the new PC way to express dates.
I never heard of Anno Domino, A.D. as being medievil latin though. Thought it was just latin.

"AD" indicates poor dating. Once it became clear that the birth of Jesus was better dated from 6-4 BCE, the whole "AD" thing was off anyway. Even Christian scholars use CE and BCE because they reflect simply a common benchmark, rather than the dating of the birth of Jesus.
