In another article in the June 2 issue of National Review magazine, Stein makes the following observation: "Much of the Western world has a big hole where its sense of identity ought to be. She was discussing a new report projecting that by 2050 Christian churchgoers in the UK will be outnumbered three to one by Muslims. But the hole-in-the soul line applies just as well to another new report, on the "evolution" of the European family. The marriage rate fell by 24 percent between 1980 and 2006. One in five pregnancies ends in abortion. One million fewer babies were born in the EU last year than in 1980. Europe has 6 million more over-65s than under-14s. Two of three households have no children.

It's sad...Europe is in such a state that all the Muslims need do to accomplish what they could not at Lepanto is have children.

State churches are just guaranteed to be eviscerated over time, as seen both in the CofE and in the Norse churches.

The US is positively blessed to not have a state church, which by now would be an abomination.

This means that, to save itself, England must purge its government of churchly operations. It would probably do the CofE wonders to have to fend for itself. And after it had a reformation, directed by the conservatives of the Anglican communion, it might discover that people actually go to church to hear about God, not social policy.

And if it was out of government, there is no reason at all to invite Islam in to government.
