This is a billion dollar industry in California. If they want to tax those guys...I’d prepare to watch them leave. The industry will likely have a meeting and discuss the best place to relocate to, and I’m guessing its Nevada (either Reno or Vegas). In just a matter of six months...the bulk of the industry will be gone...making millions in another state. Its simply another effort by California to force money out of the state. After the industry leaves...they will set their sights onto the next group to mess with.

A potential economic downside to the tax proposal is that porn producers could leave California to manufacture and distribute videos in other states that don't impose the tax.Maybe, but the pornographers would then have to take into account the cost of building new studios... uh.

Isn’t most of this stuff sold via the internet? So how would they tax it? And who would be appointed to the pornography commission to determine what is and what isn’t pornography?

Insert a Ron Jeremy joke in there. Its funny to find the party that sees nothing wrong with smut suddenly discovering its a revenue gold mine!

There are no studios, only Dodge Caravans.

They wouldn’t have to build many, if any sets.

A amateur internet porn is the wave of the future. There’s so much free stuff out there that most of the commercial producers will be gone within five years anyway. Not that I would know personally, I just read an article about it....

Most of the stuff on the Internet can be viewed for free. No one in their right mind today would buy a print
Penthouse or
Hustler copy when they can download the same material to their computer in the privacy of their home. So how are they going to collect a porn tax on porn no one buys? The stupidity of liberals never ceases to amuse me.

Much of the porn already is amateur. The thing about using actors in studios to shoot it is so 80s. Apparently the dimwits in Sacramento think the only porn available is the one they've seen in
Boogie Nights.

Excellent! Think how much better life would be if Americans viewed government in the same light as porn. We suffer from a glut of government as much as we have to put up with a glut of porn. If we can shun porn, we can also shun government.

They lease warehouses and set up shop therein. Moving the
sets, ie: beds etc, to Nevada will be done by U-Haul.
Cost to them —— a few days downtime!
