According to Dr. Robinson of the Oregon Institute of Science & Medicine, the scheduled announcement of the Global Warming Petition Project took place as scheduled at 10am EDT this morning at the National Press Club (10am).
The Petition states:
We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.
One would think that the public announcement of this petition, signed by 31,072 scientists (including over 9,000 Ph.Ds), and announced at the National Press Club itself, would garner quite a lot of publicity.
Then again, maybe not. (What was I thinking?)
If there has been a single news article about it anywhere, I have yet to find it.
Looks like the Global Warming Debate Deniers strike again.
Actually, the announcement was YESTERDAY morning. My bad.
Censorship of news unacceptable to the msm. This is how they manage the national agenda.

BUMP!
Too many are making $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ off “global warming”. Research projects, studies etc.... Even McPain doesn’t care.
And 31,000 sharp sticks in the eye to Algore...what a BAFOON.
Saints and high prophets of the new climate religion, such as Al Gore, have stated that eight of the 10 years since 1998 are the warmest on record. It simply is not true. Last year, saw a drop in the global average temperature of nearly 0.7 degrees C (the largest single-year movement up or down since global temperature averages have been calculated).
Despite advanced predictions that 2007 would be the warmest year on record,it turns out 2007 was the coolest year since at least 1993.
You may have heard earlier this month that global warming is now likely to take break for a decade or more. For the love of Mike, give me a break. And these junk scientists claim that they knew this all along (but never published it) and global warming is expected to return in 2015. Or 2020. Or sometime later.
Even Rajendra Pachauri, the head of the IPCC (green central), reluctantly admits to Reuters in January that there has been no warming so far in the 21st Century.
So if you want to believe in the fairy tale of “global warming”, that’s your right to do so. But spare us from moronic politicians who have bought into the hype and want to regulate the American economy based on faulty science.
This includes our own Johhny “I don’t know much about the economy” Mac. With luck, someone on his staff will buy him a clue for his birthday.
The need to announce it as an event where 31,000 will give SUPPORT for global warming...
then when the CROWD of media appears then go “whoops- we had the paper upside down- we DO NOT support it”
“and still no coverage of the announcement?”
will a liberal intentionally kill the cash cow that feeds him?
Al Gore won the Nobel Peace prize over a woman who saved over 2,500 Jews during WWII.
I know its not the MSM, but Britt Hume did report on it on Monday. I’m sure that the crickets were chirping at the other networks concerning this.
Of course if three pro-global warmers under the guise of the UN IPCC got together and had a circle jerk, it would be front page news.
Facts have little or no effect on liberal thinking....only feelings.
The increasing temperature of the Earth has caused these scientists to lose their analytical skills as their brains boil.
The thoughts of these sick men and women must be suppressed, so as not to cloud the truth of Global Warming with an unproven skepticism that the common citizen is too dumb to ignore.
Global warming “is expected to return in 2015.”
-—Of course....this gives them a chance to regroup and figure out their next decade of demagoguery and just what spin they’ll have to put on their “arguments”.
They will return “without prejudice” like the classic Real Estate developer who’s forced out of his proposal by too much resistance among the townspeople and so withdraws it temporarily, assuring the municipality he’ll be back to try again when things have died down, and people have forgotten about him, or forgotten they ever opposed him, or why they did, or a whole new generation has sprouted up in the meantime that has no memory of the issues his proposal brought up.
Surprising, usually it the Islamic terrorists in the running.

What about the millions of swamprats Al Gore is saving , don’t they count ? Where will the rats go when the seas rise and and the marsh lands disappear ?

Unfortunately, I can’t find ONE LINK that gives me a sample of some of the names. Can you?
Yes, the announcement should have been made that "a comprehensive statement on GW from 31,000 scientists will be delivered on"...; they would have flocked in, with plenty of pre-articles to lock them into their preconceived notions. The release would have been much more widely covered that way.

WCCO meteorologist: Global warming ‘extremism’ uses ‘squishy science’
Longtime WCCO-TV meteorologist Mike Fairbourne says that the environmental movement is practicing “squishy science” when it ties human activity to global warming.
Fairbourne’s assessment Monday came on the same day that the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine appeared before the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and announced that it has the signatures of more than 31,000 scientists — including Fairbourne’s — who agree that the human impact on global warming is overblown.
Fairbourne, who jointed WCCO in 1977 and has been a meteorologist for 40 years, said that while there is no doubt that “there has been some warming” of global temperatures in recent years ... there is still a pretty big question mark” about how much of that warming is from human activity.
“Do we need to be wise stewards [of the Earth]? Absolutely,” Fairbourne said. “Do we have to pin everything that happens on global warming? No, we need to have cooler heads.”
Fairbourne said he signed the institute’s petition about five years ago. The group said that hundreds of meteorologists are among the signees...............
SNIP.
No, Juan McNuts is a True Believer, and you are evil to question his righteous indignation!
While I don’t buy into global warming for a second, I have ben thinking about this story. We might think 31k is significant, but how does 31k compare to the hundreds of thusands (if not millions) of scientists who support man-made gloabal warming lockstep? This is a drop in the pan, realistically. I’m surprised it’s even been covered by newsmax.
Scientists? Pffft.
We’ve got a bloated politician and high-school drop-out entertainers who have researched and studied the climate. I’m sure they know what they’re talking about.
The whole global-warming environmentalist thing is a religion, and we’re not allowed to honestly, intellectually discuss a religion.
Proof that the media are completely and totally biased and irresponsible.
Any link to the complete list?
See reply #30, above.
Looks like it’s up to the pajama mudeen (sic) to circulate this story and stress that the msm did NOT do it.
Link in #30 gives details about the signers.
We need to send a pithy paragraph of explanation plus link in #30 to our email addresses, because it’s not going to be known otherwise.
The news conference - as someone has already noted was held on May 19, not 20th. Be careful with that kind of detail because the attack against the petition will be “well, if they can’t even get the date right, what else did they get wrong.”
How do you know this? From a poll? Or are you just speculating based on what you feel to be true? The point of the anti gw petition is to show that the debate is FAR from over and there is absolutely NO consensus. It succeeded in doing that many times over.
Nothing in the Google News search.
I was the original poster, and also the one who corrected the date.
I'm going to look up some of the 9,000 PHD’s and see if they would qualify in Owl Bore’s eyes.
Show me a SINGLE source to justify your claim of “hundreds of thousands, if not millions” of scientists who support global warming.
You can be sure the Baltimore Sun would demand three times the normal price for that ad, followed by an "objective" article espousing AGW.
If 31,000 scientists had endorse Barack Obama at the same time it would’ve made world news.
“Proof that the media are completely and totally biased and irresponsible.”
And should be shunned and ignored.
If you want to get a visual perspective on how many people 31,000 are then just take a look at Obama’s rally on Sunday in Portland, that’s about 30,000 people (not the 75,000 they claimed)
I agree it is kind of a religion. I know several journalists, one of whom is well known, who unreservedly sign on to carbon dioxide and AGW. The latter, although certainly verbally intelligent, flunked intro-chemistry in college, switched majors and took no mathematics, and no hard science, ever after. And is still sought as a premier environmental writer.
I see the AGW "religion" as a reaction from those whom science has passed by, resulting in a psychological need to manipulate and commandeer it. Deep egocentric insecurity countered by reactionary assertion. The perfect profile of course of Al Gore. Most lawyers also exhibit the same profile, and of course there are many, many ordinary citizens (probably the majority) in the same well.
A society where there are more lawyers than engineers is destined to be ruled by bigoted assertion.
Not that Al Gore would qualify in the eyes of most legitimate scientists.
I'll take the word of 30,000 Engineers over 3,000,000 politicians, every day of the week.
Not too long ago, there was a thread on FR that discussed the qualifications of a group "Concerned Environmental Scientists" (or something like that) who was called to testify in front of the House of Reps.
The FReeper researched the qualifications of these "Scientists". Out of the entire group, only one person had a degree in something that remotely connected to Global Warming (they had a BS in Biology). The rest were - not kidding - mostly accountants, social workers, and lawyers.
Now, Social Workers certainly are allowed to have an opinion. But, I would argue that their opinion is no more or less valuable than those espoused here on FR (or to be balanced, DU). And, certainly, they should not be tapped as "experts" called to testify in front of a Congressional Committee.
This is why I value the "Global Warming Petition". There's a huge difference between true believers, and dispassionate scientists + engineers.
