Manson ranch to be searched for bodies

Published: May 10, 2008 at 9:26 PM

INDEPENDENCE, Calif., May 10 (UPI) -- Authorities say they will dig at a desert ranch in California once used by 1960s convicted killer and cult leader Charles Manson in search of bodies.

Inyo County Sheriff Bill Lutze issued a statement Friday saying an earlier search of Barker Ranch, located in Death Valley 150 miles west of Las Vegas, utilizing a cadaver dog and detection equipment was inconclusive, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Saturday.

"There was no consistent response from the dogs that searched, and no conclusive findings from the soil samplings tested by top experts in the field," Lutze said. "Therefore, I believe the only way to determine once and for all whether there are bodies buried at Barker Ranch from the time of the Manson family is to proceed with limited excavation in a very few areas."

Authorities are to begin about four days of digging on May 20, the newspaper reported.

Manson, now 73 and serving a life sentence in a California prison, and his followers wound up at Barker Ranch and nearby Myers Ranch after a series of slayings in Los Angeles, including the killing of actress Sharon Tate. There have been rumors for years that other Manson family victims are buried on the Barker property.

Allies in War
By David Horowitz
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, September 17, 2001:

ON THE MORNING OF THE ATTACKS on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, along with a million other readers of the New York Times including many who would never be able to read the paper again, I opened its pages to be confronted by a color photo showing a middle-aged couple holding hands and affecting a defiant look at the camera. The article was headlined in an irony that could not have been more poignant, "No Regrets For A Love Of Explosives."

The couple pictured were Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, former leaders of the 1960s’ Weather Underground, America’s first terrorist cult. One of their bombing targets, as it happened, was the Pentagon.

"I don’t regret setting bombs," Ayers was quoted in the opening line of the Times profile; "I feel we didn’t do enough." In 1969, Ayers and his wife convened a "War Council" in Flint Michigan, whose purpose was to launch a military front inside the United States with the purpose of helping Third World [Maoist-communist] revolutionaries conquer and destroy it.

Taking charge of the podium, dressed in high-heeled boots and a leather mini-skirt – her signature uniform – Dorhn incited the assembled radicals to join the war against "Amerikkka" and create chaos and destruction in the "belly of the beast."

Her voice rising to a fevered pitch, Dohrn raised three fingers in a "fork salute" to mass murderer Charles Manson whom she proposed as a symbol to her troops. Referring to the helpless victims of the Manson Family as the "Tate Eight" (the most famous was actress Sharon Tate) Dohrn shouted:

"Dig It. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!"

(big snip)

Today William Ayers is not merely an author favored by the New York Times, but a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

His Lady Macbeth [Bernardine Dohrn] is not merely a lawyer, but a member of the American Bar Association’s governing elite, as well as the director of Northwestern University’s Children and Family Justice Center.

"During the investigation, documented by prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi in his book, Helter Skelter, the motive for the killings eluded prosecutors for a while, and even when they discovered it, no one could believe it.

Manson had a philosophy that blacks would rise up against whites, but they needed an instigator such as himself to get the "revolution" started. He used his followers as an extension of himself. Throughout the trial, Bugliosi's team wondered how this skinny, bizarre man had managed to acquire so many female disciples, some of whom demonstrated outside the courtroom and shaved their heads when he did, and some of whom claimed they would kill or die for him."

You're welcome, buddy. No hard feelings. Here's something else I found:

"Helter Skelter would begin, according to one of Charlie's devotees, 'with the black man going into white people's homes and ripping off the white people, physically destroying them. A couple of spades from Watts would come up into the Bel Air and Beverly Hills district...and just really wipe some people out, just cutting bodies up and smearing blood and writing things on the wall in blood...all kinds of super-atrocious crimes that would really make the white man mad...until there was open revolution in the streets, until they finally won and took over. Then the black man would assume the white man's karma. He would then be the establishment...'"

Actually, I think that's wrong. I don't think it's in DVNP. I think it's on BLM land, but the NPS maintains and checks in on it as a courtesy. There are a bunch of cabins up in the Panamints like that.

pic we took when we were there (Feb. 2001):

>>boo!

One of the most interesting parts of the trip was up Goler canyon... Up which Charley, according to the legend, “flew” a school bus.

It’s a popular 4x4 destination:

http://www.totalescape.com/active/wheelz/roads/goler.html

I have no idea how he got the school bus up there.

The isolation of the place renders a dramatic effect; especially if you imagine being isolated up there in the summer heat with crazy Charlie and his clan all whacked out on acid and meth.

It’s impressive.

Why would someone like the Apostle Paul give you the “heebee jeeby’s”? I’m not saying Charles W. has the depth of ministry and impact on our society that Paul did back then, but his past wasn’t nearly as horrific as Paul’s was — as Saul, the Christian serial killer.

Interesting how we can accept the conversion of someone as evil as Saul/Paul, but never consider the possibility that someone like Charles Watson could ever find the forgiveness and grace of God in the same way, and have it be as genuine.

Something to think about....especially as it seems you are a Christian (from your tag line)...

I’m glad that I don’t get what I deserve. I’m glad God’s mercy extends to me, regardless of what I’ve done (or haven’t done).

In 1977, authorities learned the precise location of the remains of Shorty Shea and that, contrary to Family claims, Shea had not been dismembered and buried in several places. Contacting the prosecutor in his case, Steve Grogan told him Shea’s corpse had been buried in one piece; he drew a map that pinpointed the location of the body, which was recovered.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I always thought that Shorty was never found but doing a search now that I am interested again I found the above. Its wiki but I tend to think its true. The video I just saw was pretty interesting & does say Shorty was found.

I can remember the headlines & I had to be pretty young at the time. I am glad they found Shorty. I don’t know what they will find up there now. Its been so many years but maybe they will give some family comfort whose member has been missing. Should have been done a long time ago IMHO.

Seen any signs that Charlie or his followers are willing to “convert”? I would say, offhand, that your comparison between and Paul and Manson is just a tad off. Must be nice to so delusional that you think even the most brutal of killers should perhaps be set free to roam and kill more people. Manson and his crowd should have all been put to death. In case you missed it, the penalty for murder in the bible is death.

I said nothing about Manson. I only spoke about Charles Watson. I’m glad the Apostle Paul — and oh yeah! Moses and King David — didn’t have the biblical death penalty imposed on THEM when each of them committed premeditated murder.

Guess you forgot about that one...

Charles Watson was specifically contact by the media and asked for his knowledge of any bodies in the desert. He answered truthfully and specifically. If he had said nothing — and CNN reported that “when asked about the possibilities of additional murders at the cabin, Charles Watson refused to answer and did not contact this reporter” — then you all would criticize him for covering something up.

What’s up with the thread spam?

I thought I explained it already. Charles Manson's "Helter Skelter" (his "plan" behind the murder spree) was nearly identical in nature to those of groups like the Weather Underground, the Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Army, the Symbionese Liberation Army (Patty Hearst), and even Rev. Wright's Black Liberation Theology and just plain Liberation Theology. That is, to stir up hatred and division between the races for the precise purposes of launching a revolutionary overthrow of the U.S. government. If you're still interested, go back over my earlier postings. And if you'll like more info you won't easily find anywhere else regarding all this, let me know and I'll be happy to provide it.
