How do I move this to Breaking News? If this doesn’t qualify, I don’t know what does.

100,000 people dead and the country’s rulers refuse aid.......never thought I would see it.

I did not expect the rulers there to allow distribution of anything by anyone other than themselves. They are somewhat similar in outlook to the fellow in North Korea. China is also surely leaning on them to not allow any foreigners into the country.

THE death toll in cyclone-ravaged Burma could hit 500,000 – more than TWICE the total killed by the Boxing Day Tsunami.

Last night’s warning came as it emerged that 17 Britons, including ex-pats and backpackers, were still missing.

Sources said 200,000 people were already dead or dying.

But the figure could rise to HALF A MILLION through disease and hunger if the nation’s hardline army rulers continue to block aid for the devastated lowlands of the Irrawaddy Delta.

I heard an interview on the radio the other day which sort of clarified the situation there. They aren’t completely refusing aid. They are claiming they have enough human resources and will gladly accept supplies, they just don’t want the foreigners that are being sent along with the supplies. In the case of this article, this particular organization insisted on doing the distribution themselves and that was what got em into trouble. I am wondering what the Myanmar government is trying to hide or what it is they are trying to keep their own people from seeing or finding out.

Ask the admin if you want it moved to breaking.

This is horrific. Tens of thousands of people are going to die because their own government will not allow them to be helped. It’s barbaric.

According to the democrats this is exactly what Bush did during Katrina.

Nonetheless, anytime you get the U.N. involved disaster is usually the norm. GO FIGURE!!

Mao killed over 50 million people and it didn't even involve a natural disaster -- he starved them to death, all in the interest of holding onto political power. Dictators could careless for their subjects.
