California eco-terror plot brings 20-year sentence (mastermind - Earth Liberation Front attacks)

An environmental activist has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison for conspiring to destroy a Northern California dam, a genetics lab and other targets.

Eric McDavid, 29, of Foresthill, was convicted in March for masterminding what FBI agents described as an eco-terrorist plot in the name of the Earth Liberation Front. The group has claimed credit for arsons across the West.

McDavid's defense lawyer argued that his client was a victim of entrapment by an FBI informant.

Two co-conspirators pleaded guilty and testified against McDavid. They are awaiting sentencing.

According to court testimony, the three considered bombing Nimbus Dam and the U.S. Forest Service's Institute of Forest Genetics in Placerville, both east of Sacramento. They were arrested after buying what prosecutors said were bomb-making supplies.

Good, sounds like he got what he deserved. Federal Judge England seems to be a bit tougher on sentencing that Judge Aiken in Eugene, OR.

A few of BO’s friends should join this perp in jail, too.

ELF and ALF are terrorists just as dangerous as al Queda or FARC/narco terror.

It's good that members of the bench are acting accordingly.

Excerpt from SacBee article.

At the conclusion of a lengthy hearing before a crowded courtroom, U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. found McDavid's plan to "disrupt government and commercial installations" overrides his lack of a criminal history and a reputation among family and friends as "a peaceful individual."

England denied defense lawyer Mark Reichel's request for bail pending appeal. Reichel had earlier told the judge, "Mr. McDavid and I plan to pursue his appeal vigorously."

Man, I hope his lily white, environmentally pink, fanny gets sent to a "general population" cell block.

He'd be prime choice for the biggest Bubba with a ring through his nose.....and while that is going on he can contemplate the efficacy of playing with matches!

The great thing is it’s federal, he’ll serve most all of that sentence.

>>>Looks like his university professorship will have to wait.<<<

Which reminds me of a recent story about the 100 or so University students at San Diego State Univ. that got arrested for dealing cocaine.

One of them, a Public Safety major asked the arresting officer; "do you think this arrest will have any effect on me becoming a law enforcement officer?"

The gene pool is indeed declining in quality...!!

McDavid's defense lawyer argued that his client was a victim of entrapment by an FBI informant.

I wonder what that has to do with his being found guilty of engaging in eco-terrorism by plotting to blow up a dam.

I hope they feed him nothing but fast food and Pepsi for his entire sentence, and give him nothing to read but Dickens.

The co-conspirators testified against the main perp. I say, give the co-conspirators a break. Sentence them to only 19 years and 11 months.

Put all three in with the prison general population but put pretty pink bows on their long hair first.

He should be executed. Terrorism should be a “prime directive” crime. Kill them all.
