A First Lady and a State Legislator
National Review Online ^ | 5/08/08 | David Kahane

....And that, officers and gentlemen, is Hillary Clinton in a nutshell. She’s not going to quit because she has nowhere else to go, and nothing else to do. She lives for this, and without it, she has no life. In fact, without it, she doesn’t exist at all.....

~~~~~~
...So, as much as it pains me to say it, Hillary ain’t dropping out, not if she’s the man I think she is. After all, what has she got to lose by staying in? Bill’s legacy is already etched in stone: impeachment, the Marc Rich pardon and, nine months after he left office, two giant steaming holes in lower Manhattan. Now matter how many times he wags his finger or bites his lip, there is, amazingly, nowhere for him to go but further down. And now that he can’t hurt us any more, we’re even free to say it!
But her legacy — well, that’s something different. Forget Whitewater, forget her near-indictment by a grand jury. Forget the levitating ashtrays and the jet-propelled lamps, the missing White House furniture, the scorched-earth policy against Bill’s, um, lady friends. Forget the imaginary Bosnian snipers, forget the opportunistic Yankee caps. Forget the cattle futures and the sailor’s vocabulary. Forget the Wal-Mart board that she apparently slept on for years without noticing the company was a bona fide Enemy of the People. Forget the Rose law firm billing records. Forget the Barrett Report. None of that matters any more.....
A First Lady and a State Legislator
Gee, for a minute there, I thought this was going to be a litany of Barbara Walters' bedmates.
Hillary is going to be around because there's always the chance something will happen that will render Obama damaged goods between the end of the primaries and the Democratic convention. She has nothing to lose and everything to gain by waiting for a favorable break.
Hillary ain’t dropping
The last thing - actually the next to last thing - I ever want to hear is: "President Hillary" (the first being: "Pres. O"
That being said, why SHOULD she drop out>
The media and the libRAts have been beating her over the head from day one with the Obamama stick. It's been personal pay-back time for them all...they will do anything to defeat the clintooons and understandably so.
However, it's a classic case of 'cut off nose...' because of who she's running against...Never thought to see the day when someone could make the hilderbeast seem the better choice.
That said - why should she have had this constant 'get out' drummed on her when the obamama hasn't reached the number of delegates for the nomination? Isn't that the name of the game? To secure the nomination, the candidate is supposed to reach that magic number - not be crowned on the assumption, months ahead, that they will ultimately get them -
And if they don't get them, then isn't it supposed to be decided AT the convention by the Supers??? NOT months ahead?
'Seems to me that the tangled-web libRats and the media will continue to weave and deceive to fit their agenda and the devil take the hindmost.
Latest example: hitlery wins Indiana - more important than S. Carolina. obamama wins S. Carolina, less important and because it was a race-vote, pure and simple. (When you have 90% of a block, in this case the race block, voting one way, that's a bias. But none dare call it a race bias. It would only be so called if it were a 90% white block)
But the libRats and media headlines, even with FOX, has been: Obamama wins S. Carolina - hitlery needs to quit.
I hope she hangs in there. Much as I despise her, she has the right...(I do admit to also hoping for a knock-down, drag-out at convention and pubbie ads from there to Nov: "Do you dare trust these people to manage our country, to keep us safe from that phone call at 3 a.m.?"
“...begging her to Bring Us Together for the Good of the Party by Getting the Hell Out...”
If her ‘husband’ would not stand down for the good of the party once he was caught LITERALLY with his pants down, what makes you thing she will do the right thing now?
Mr. Kahane makes an excellent point. But being a senator, even from an "important" state like New York pales in comparison to being POTUS.
Senator Clinton obviously believes she is owed the chance to be POTUS. This is for all the marbles. Which leads to hilarity on my part. She now has her BIG chance. And she's just blown it in so many ways. If she wasn't a sociopath and had not been an arrogant asshole for the last 30 years, she might stand a chance of winning. But she's pissed off too many people over the years. And, most delightful of all to me, her number one prop in the past, the press, has turned against her.
She's loaning money to her campaign. Can you spell desperation?
Can you spell pathetic?
"Drop dead, Bill."
