Society has done a wonderful job of emasculating men over the last 30 years, this is the next logical step.

So much apostasy, so little time.
God help us.

If he pronounces his name like bidet, maybe I understand.

I saw this back in the 90’s with some CEO of a company I worked for that hyphenated HIS name to include his wife’s name. I thought he was a pu$$!3 for it.
Since, by their names, I’ll make the assumption that the people in the article aren’t Christian, the traditions may not apply to them.
But, in the Judeo-Christian worldview, the two leave their families to become one flesh, and the man is the head of the family as Christ is the head of the Church.

"I am really, really proud of him. Not many men would do this," she said. That's true. She really has an unusual catch of a guy there. It sounds like they were made for each other. Of course when they get divorced he'll have to go through a lot of trouble to change his name back.

I’ll bet he’s opening on Broadway in the next Vagina Monologues.

My nephew has decided to give his soon to be born child his wife's last name. Needless to say my brother is not happy, though in all honesty their relationship was not good anyway. If my nephew was consistent, he'd take her name also but I guess he won't do that. In any event, I'm just glad me folks are not around anymore to see it.

It seems from the article that he named himself as a sign of respect to her Father, and something of a rejection of his own.
This isn’t emasculation.

never trust a woman lawyer with a hyphenated name. Advice that has never failed me.

I’ll never forget an episode of “All in the Family” where Archie was introduced to a woman and he said
“Nice to meet you, Miss/Mrs...?”
“miZZZZ”
“Oh, one a’ doze”

I don’t see what the big deal is. Private matter. It does kind of have a gayness to it, but it is their choice.
Besides, Bijon is a cooler last name than Buday.
