This is just...I can’t believe this entire story. I’m having real trouble buying that this freak’s wife didn’t know SOMETHING about what was going on. How could there be up to four people living in their basement for almost a quarter of a century, and she didn’t know about it? Maybe she didn’t, but I just can’t understand how, if that’s true.

One of the articles linked in another thread points out that the freak and his wife took in boarders - who also noticed nothing. Lot of oblivious people out there, apparently. But, to be truthful, I can’t say I know all that goes on in my neighbor’s homes.
maybe she was scared he would stick her in the basement too
