San Francisco -- Talk about strange bedfellows. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the 2008 Democratic presidential candidate, and John McCain, the Republican presumptive nominee, joined forces this week to repeatedly remind voters that Barack Obama was - where else? - in San Francisco when he talked about "bitter" American workers who "cling" to religion and guns out of frustration.
And in the latest 2008 presidential campaign brouhaha, the City by the Bay has again become a potent symbol for that perceived liability of Democratic candidates: a tendency to be flaky, out of touch and entirely too liberal to appeal to Joe Sixpack voters.
Republican commentator and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan huffed on Monday that Obama's comments came "behind closed doors to the Chablis-and-brie set of San Francisco, in response to a question as to why he was not doing better in that benighted and barbarous land they call Pennsylvania."
Obama observed last week to the crowd at developer Alex Mehran's San Francisco home that "you go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and ... the jobs have been gone now for 25 years, and nothing's replaced them."
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," the Illinois senator added in comments that were taped and then revealed days later on the Huffington Post blog.
Buchanan heatedly dismissed Obama's comments as "the pitch-perfect Hollywood-Harvard stereotype of the white working class, the caricature of the urban ethnic - as seen from the San Francisco point of view."
McCain's camp has echoed that criticism. Steve Schmidt, a top McCain adviser, said in an interview Monday that Obama's words have resonated precisely...

Nice job of sneering by the Chronicle, weaving Pat Buchanan into the story. Of all the people who have criticized Obama, they pick this backward dolt. They’ve got Strawman 101 from J school just about perfect...
Obama is all of those things and more.
Great info on Obama’s closed S.F. fundraiser.

Both Nobama and Hitlery lower themselves into the pit to Narfle the Garthok.
When one hears the phrase “San Francisco values”, he knows exactly what is meant. That simple phrase saves a lot of explanation.
"Hussein Obamas big mouth, small brain, condescending, America-hating, grandkid-baby-terminating, born-alive-infant-abandoning, America-hating-wife, kooky-moonbat-America-hating-pastor, racially-divisive, race-baiting, crotch-saluting, America-flag-disrespecting ... chickens ... coming home to roost ...!"
Unfair to San Francisco! I wonder how many unemployed people can afford to live in San Francisco?
The O’man is the man who spent twenty years wholed up in a black nazi cargo cult of a “church.”
Yep and the City of San francisco is now advertising for Illegal alliens to come there. Obviously the city needs a new crop of cheap slaves to exploit for their bath houses and the gay mafia. The liberals love their slaves and then abuse them without mercy. Liberals are the most heartless when they are their most helpful.
"You're darn tootin'."
Obama learned this ideology at the urban and alienated Columbia University: Obama's Bitter Liberalism.
Hundreds of thousands all supported by their Libtard government with housing, free medical care, free food, and money to buy medical marijuana, booze any ony other drugs of their choice. Meanwhile, those who have jobs, and pay horrendous dictated by the coincil of perverts and their opportunist mo morals cretin mayor, can’;t get out to their cars without stepping in drug addict feces, and their discarded needles.
I'd like to know who is defining "elite" these days...seems to me to be a pretty shallow and easily contorted word.
I'd like to add my new notch to the definition...if I might.
Socially isolated and narrowly educated political manipulators.
