Dear Senator Obama:
Our common denomination, the United Church of Christ, has a suddenly serious legal and financial problem with the Internal Revenue Service. You, personally, are the cause of this problem. Candidly? I think you owe it to those of us who are your fellow congregants to help repair the damage that you have done.
...UNSURPRISINGLY, ALL OF THIS resulted in a complaint being filed with the IRS following your presentation. In addition to your speech and the stories featured by the UCC's own website, the complaint cites numerous media accounts describing your appearance as a campaign event. This is bolstered by photographs of volunteers manning Obama campaign tables at the entrance to the Civic Center, volunteers who were then ushered inside for the oldest of campaign rituals -- a photo op with the candidate.
Our national church suddenly stands in danger of losing its tax exempt status -- because of you. Do you have any idea what losing our tax-exempt status could mean to a church like mine here in Pennsylvania if in fact we are tagged financially for federal, state and local taxes?
...Exceeding six figures, of course, means we're talking over a million dollars. A million dollars to cover for your personal mistake. Of which the UCC has so far managed to raise a paltry $43,847.37 in a special "UCC Legal Fund" as this is written.

This shows that Obama KNOWINGLY AND WILLFULLY made a speech with campaign-related content at a church event, with the full knowledge that it could get the church into trouble with the Internal Revenue Service. It's a matter of record that the United Church of Christ told Obama and his campaign staff ahead of time that no campaign-related activity could take place, and that Obama indicated understanding and agreement. He then WROTE (ahead of time, as in premeditated) a speech that violated the rules to which he had agreed. This certainly reflects on his personal character and fitness for public office.

If Obama is the reason he should step up to the plate and donate some of his millions to help the church out. Let’s see how devoted you are., and by the way maybe rev Wright might want to contribute to, oh, maybe not he’s having a house built in a gated community and his finances are all tied up, but he is ok’d for a few million in loans, no?

Do you have evidence? If She Who Must Not Be Named becomes the nominee (right now it looks like Obama), we can use this against her.
I thought maybe this was The Onion, but it’s real?
I thought the UCC would be loving this, not demanding something so quaint as personal responsibility on the part of Obama for his wrongdoing.
Then again, people have funny reactions when it begins to affect their personal money. People also have funny reactions when it becomes clear that they might have to give more of their money to the government-—even those people who routinely agitate for the “other guy” (e.g., “the rich”) to give LOTS more of their money to the government.
Oh, I see it’s a letter from a supposed congregant. Okay. Carry on.
It’s clear that the letter is not from the UCC organizaton. It states that explicitly. Who’s the “doofus” and, might I be so bold as to say egotist?”
