Had Serbia had a nuclear arsenal, we wouldn’t be having these conversations.

Scott Taylor Bio:

A former professional soldier, Scott Taylor has been editor and publisher of Esprit de Corps since 1988.

Throughout the mid-1990s, this little independent magazine embarked on a campaign to expose crime and corruption in the upper echelons of the Canadian Forces. After exposing a number of top-level cover-ups and scandals while defending the rights of the rank and file soldiers, Scott was dubbed the “Voice of the Grunts” by the Globe and Mail, a “Bone in the Brass’ Throats” by the Toronto Star, and a “One Man Army” by the Toronto Sun.

Since the inception of Esprit de Corps, Scott has logged over one million air miles as a war correspondent reporting from such global hot spots as the Persian Gulf, Cambodia, Western Sahara, Croatia, Bosnia, Iraq, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.

Since August 2000, Scott has made a total of 21 trips into Iraq to report on the effects of the UN sanctions, the ravages of depleted uranium following the 1991 Gulf War, and the heightening tensions with the United States. In March 2003, during his last trip prior to the United States’ intervention, Scott Taylor was asked to leave Iraq for fear of his being a spy for the Israeli Mossad. Following the swift U.S. victory, Scott returned frequently to Iraq to view first-hand the ongoing humanitarian crisis plaguing this still embattled country. Then, for five harrowing days in September 2004, he experienced the rare occasion when “getting the story becomes the story.” Held captive by Ansar al-Islam mujahedeen in northern Iraq, his release generated a wave of international media coverage. He then returned to Iraq in 2005 in order to brief the U.S. soldiers on the Turkmen people of the country.

Scott regularly appears in the Canadian media as a military analyst, and is the recipient of the 1996 Quill Award for outstanding work in the field of Canadian communications. That same year, he also won the Alexander MacKenzie Award for journalistic excellence.
A weekly columnist for the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, he is also a columnist for the Osprey newspaper chain and has contributed to the Ottawa Citizen, Maclean’s magazine, the Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Reader’s Digest, and the Global television network as well as several international publications. He also serves as an advisor to the CBC Radio play “Afghanada.” Scott also gives presentations to The Executive Committee (TEC) and was named their 2006 Speaker of the Year.

I guess NYC-Rino has to start rethinking his posts.

“Why in the world is the United States actively supporting the Islamic criminals of the world?”

The answer is in the interests of the man sitting in the White House.

“Is prosperity that important as to sell one’s soul?”

For many in the political/economic elites in this country, the answer is a resounding yes, which speaks volumes about the conservative movement and more especially the Republican Party here. It is truly remarkable to see what has happened in just the past 10-12 years and truly horrifying to look to the future.

W&CR, honestly, what do you think the chances are of the majority of the Western children of the Enlightenment and the Protestant Reformation understanding Tsar Lazar’s dilemma and his ultimate choice? They think we are fools at a minimum and around here at least, disloyal. Personally, I have no intention or desire to show my loyalty to the United States, which I have already proved “elsewhere” in spades, by dying myself or placing others in harm’s way to fatten the purse of some globalist capitalist and secure the future of Islamofascism in Europe or anywhere else.

"I’m sure Putin will give the Serbs some nukes to defend themselves from the evil western civilization. Not. Bwahahahaha."

This is not "a fight against Western Civilization". It is a fight against Western GLOBALIZATION! And in this argument, you are the moron wearing the "Go Soros!" tee-shirt.

Hasn't it ever occurred to you that when you are on the same side on an issue with George Soros, you are probably on the wrong side? Ding, ding, ding -- that was the IQ test -- and so far you are failing miserably!

As I see this, we have about a dozen posters here, all but two of us (NYC Republican & myself) who apparently take the story seriously.

Yes, it's entirely possible that NYC and myself are simply less informed than the others. But to me, the story sounds preposterous on the face of it, obviously someone's disinformation campaign, intended for who-knows-what purpose?

But let me suggest this. The proof is easy to determine. The event will either happen as described or not. If it does happen as described, then NYC & myself are guilty only of being uninformed, and of refusing to believe an unverified story.

But if it does NOT happen as described, then some of our other posters are guilty of something more serious, imho. And that is gullibility at best, and at worst, overeagerness to believe a crock of nonsense that happens to fit their own warped political perspectives.

Actually the Kosovo & Albania pipeline deal is ours -- the projects are called AMBO and Nabucco. The Russian deal is with Serbia, proper, and its called Southstream.

But you are right in that Russia is one of the players now -- but back when all this started in the Balkans in the 1990's, Russia couldn't tie its own shoes.

Pretty interesting. I happen to think this was the US scenario but I wonder if they have the b____ to implement it.
Firstly, I think Serbia has been pretty successful in telling the world what really went on in Kosovo and I think their may be outrage if it happened.

Since I work in the oil industry, strange things have been happening. Firstly, 148 BP employees in Russia, are in fear of being deported and TNK may be broken up on tax evasion charges. To me that is an indication that the Russians are tired of the lap dog roll of the UK and want to show them that they can kick them out of Russia whenever they wish if they dont play by their game. Secondly, Total is a big player in Shtokman, 122 tcf of gas in the Barents Sea and a 25% interest. They are not going to provoke Russia, there is too much at risk.

Currently, Russia supplies 25% of the gas to europe. When Bush wanted Georgia and the Ukraine on the fast track to NATO membership, who was against it. Germany, and France.

I think Europe is looking at US actions disguised in NATO and thinking maybe it is a little too much and wont go along with it.

You are on the same side as Hugo Chavez and Communist China. Has it ever occurred to you that if you are on the same side as every commie in the world, then you are on the wrong side?

For the record, I am not on anyone's side except AMERICA'S side! I support US troops and I hope they TOTALLY ANNIHILATE ANYONE that picks a fight with them!

Of course this story is a joke.

But don’t expect certain Balkan apologists to accept that, they’re too wrapped up in their old paranoias / ethnic hatreds to ever see reality.

And I see monty is back to his insults again.

Some things never change.

No offense, but ethnic Serbs who stay in Kosovo are as crazy as whites who stay in Zimbabwe.
Get out. Encourage Kosovo to melt down. Come back when the climate is better for Christians.

"No offense, but ethnic Serbs who stay in Kosovo are as crazy as whites who stay in Zimbabwe. Get out. Encourage Kosovo to melt down. Come back when the climate is better for Christians."

That would be the logical thing to do for the average person. And Serbs have been leaving Kosovo for the last 50 years for that reason.

But those priests and nuns in the monasteries in Kosovo aren't going anywhere. They feel if evil runs the world, then it is their job to stand up for good -- even if it kills them. To stay in their homes, trust God, and what happens, happens. There are many ordinary Serbs who feel as they do.

I'll never forget a message one poster left on my blog: "Kosovo's fields have been watered with the blood of Serb Christians for centuries. Why should I think that I am any different than any who came before me standing to witness for Christ? If God decides that the fields need more blood to make them fertile, here I am and here I will stay so He will know where to find me, standing for Him". Frankly, it brought tears to my eyes.

I thank you for your courteous discussion -sometimes absent on this site-and will close by saying I hope the predictions were alarmist, and that nothing untoward comes of them.

Like most Westerners, what I don’t know about this powderkeg could fill a library.

I’ll keep an eye out for any of your future posts !

Which is why I think the US should completely withdraw from Kosovo.

Those troops would be better used protecting OUR southern border

The Nabucco pipeline is nearly dead due to south stream which will take Kazakh gas. AMBO is in the planning stages and is for crude from the caspian. This came from Serbianna and is the truth.

“… Albania and its seaport in Vlore are the final destination of a giant oil pipeline, which will transport the Caspian oil from the Caucasus to the West. This project, which is being carried out by the US company, AMBO [Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria Oil], began in 1993 and the final contracts were signed in 2008. According to the US Department of Energy, this is the most important US project in Southeastern Europe in the 21st century.” Source: BBC Monitoring Europe (Political) - March 5, 2008, Text of report by Pristina-based weekly Self-Determination Movement website, on 3 March, 2008.

The Americans have participated in establishing an illegal state in the Balkans to serve their own purposes. Artificially creating such a state sets a precedent, and not a positive one. Other ethnic and national groups are watching and learning.

Well, they are valiant and holy martyrs then, but they WILL be martyred. NATO is not going to help, the media will ignore their murders and the destruction of their holy sites and most of Europe has lost its faith and won’t stand with them. Christianity in Kosovo will be eliminated. Something dreadful will have to happen in Europe before they realize what sort of vipers they are harboring.

There are times when I really miss the Russian Empire.
