That would be the logical thing to do for the average person. And Serbs have been leaving Kosovo for the last 50 years for that reason.
But those priests and nuns in the monasteries in Kosovo aren't going anywhere. They feel if evil runs the world, then it is their job to stand up for good -- even if it kills them. To stay in their homes, trust God, and what happens, happens. There are many ordinary Serbs who feel as they do.
I'll never forget a message one poster left on my blog: "Kosovo's fields have been watered with the blood of Serb Christians for centuries. Why should I think that I am any different than any who came before me standing to witness for Christ? If God decides that the fields need more blood to make them fertile, here I am and here I will stay so He will know where to find me, standing for Him". Frankly, it brought tears to my eyes.
Well, they are valiant and holy martyrs then, but they WILL be martyred. NATO is not going to help, the media will ignore their murders and the destruction of their holy sites and most of Europe has lost its faith and won’t stand with them. Christianity in Kosovo will be eliminated. Something dreadful will have to happen in Europe before they realize what sort of vipers they are harboring.
There are times when I really miss the Russian Empire.
