George, Bill, George, Ronald, Gerald, Jimmy, Richard, Lyndon, John, Dwight, Harry, Franklin, Herbert, Calvin, Warren, Woodrow, William, are some of the more recent first names of US Presidents. There has never been a President Bob and I don’t think the nation is ready for this Bob.

This is interesting news. I hope he runs. Rep. Barr was fairly conservative, his bad taste in joining the ACLU of late notwithstanding.

It’ll also be entertaining to watch the GOP apologists whine and moan about how he’ll split the vote. Ever notice how GOP operatives seem to view conservative votes as some sort of an entitlement? I guess the thought of running better candidates never enters into it....

I like Bob Barr, but I can't do it for one reason. The Supreme Court. Most of the justices are in their late 60's or older. The next president may be able to appoint 4 or more justices to the court.

Barack Obama is a con law professor who does not respect the constitution as shown by his voting record. I believe he voted against Alito, and maybe even Roberts, but I have to check on that. You can take Bill Clinton's record of Ginsburg and Breyer and apply that to Hillary.

McCain may be good or may be bad on this, but I'd rather take a chance on someone who MIGHT be good over someone I KNOW will be atrocious, and at least McCain is good on pork barrell spending, which our current president is not.

I honestly don’t think Bob Barr will prove as much of a problem as people think. He’ll probably get the level of support something like Pat Buchanan - that’s at least what it sounds like on the surface of it. He’s an extremist.

Barr went off the reservation with his alliance with the ACLU. Sorry but Bob like Ron just could not beat the reg Pubs whether conservs, moderates or lib. Nice guy but should stay in Ga. Go Nader, go. LOL

Check it out. He only was involved in issues that most conservatives would agree with. I'd vote for this ticket before I would vote McCain.

Woohoo! Then we get to have Hillary in the White House advaning the conservative cause! It'll be morning in America!

I just saw a report card today (I can give you a link if you'd like) that showed Hillary and Barry voting against Alito and Roberts and McCain voting for them.

McCain may be good or may be bad on this, but I'd rather take a chance on someone who MIGHT be good over someone I KNOW will be atrocious, and at least McCain is good on pork barrell spending, which our current president is not.

That's wisdom. McCain could be the worst GOP president since Harding and he'd still be a hundred times better than HillObama.

I’ll take your word on it and can find it myself on the thomas site when I have the time. My dangerously incompetent joke of a senator Stab-me-now voted bad on both of them, and the the Jimmy Carter Clone and Billary both usually voted the same way.

If we do, it’s because that is what America wants.

Woo Hoo. Name two differences between Hillary and John. I only ask for two because that is all there is. Woo Hoo.

>> I wonder what Hillary promised him to do this? Or was it blackmail? <<

I have to admit that Bob Barr getting active in the LP always struck me as odd.

As everyone might recall from his last Congressional race, the LP ran ads "targeting" Barr for defeat because they were angry about his record on their little pet issue, ending the drug war.

Why would Barr want to help a party that worked to throw him out of office? And even though he agreed with them on 90% of the issues, Barr never even struck me as much of a strong libertarian-leaning guy in office, because of the aforementioned drug war stuff and the fact he was a hard-core pro-life absolutist and because shrinking and dismantling various parts of the federal government was never a huge factor in his campaigns.

What do you guys think? The LP sweetened the deal with Barr and promised him some goodies, or Barr went off the deep end and started buying their platform?

you’re so right, AND even more bad news. A few minutes ago, he (Bob Barr) said on FNC that he IS running. He even said he won’t win, but it’s a chance to “get Libertarian ideas out there and give people an alternative choice” (I’m paraphrasing somewhat). What a load of garbage. Either he hates the GOP or he wants to see Obama get elected (or both). Already, all the Ron Paulers (and Dems) are energized. Look, I voted twice for Perot, back before I learned the real world, and he’s the reason Bill Clinton got elected. This latest turn of events is horrifying. What say you??

PS - read his stand on the issues. And yes, he’s for immediately pulling out of Iraq, AND against FISA/Protect America act.

I won't be voting for Bob Barr. He's delusional if he thinks he has a chance to be president. Wasn't he against the Patriot Act and NSA spying?
