Election '08: Trailing in delegates, the last straw for Hillary Clinton may have come as her fanciful account of braving gunfire in Bosnia in 1996 is exposed. But then falsehood and the former first lady are fast friends.
---------------------------------------------------------
The official response of the campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., regarding her claims of being under sniper fire upon arrival in Bosnia as first lady 12 years ago is that she "misspoke" and that's all her team has to say about it.
But this particular fib is not likely to be explained away as easily as, say, her claim that she was named after Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary more than five years before the New Zealander achieved his feat.
Hillary in the end laughed that one off as a whimsical slice of tongue-in-cheek family lore.
In the case of Bosnia, there is videotape from CBS News that incontrovertibly conflicts with Hillary's emphatic descriptions of what she experienced on her trip.
"I remember landing under sniper fire," she said during a speech on Saint Patrick's Day last week. "There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
In a press conference after the speech, she repeated her contentions. "There was no greeting ceremony, and we basically were told to run to our cars," Sen. Clinton said. "Now, that is what happened."..........

Good IBD editorial. The lie is the weapon used most often in the criminal’s arsenal of weapon. Hillary Criminal IS a serial liar.
Watching Greta, she and her guest kept talking about this being an exaggeration and misspeaking. What is wrong with everyone; why can’t they call it what it is; LYING!
IBD is great
I’d have to guess that there never was a time as FLOTUS that she had to duck and run to the motorcade, otherwise we’d already have heard how she confused the two events with the passage of time. That would be the only plausible excuse one could offer. Instead, she had to have fabricated the incident completely. Despicable.
I never thought I'd find myself worrying about Barack Obama, but I do.
He's a bigtime phony and I could never vote for him, but he's up against the Clintons, and that ain't gonna be pretty.
I don’t like any of our choices but I’ll vote for McCain to keep either of the other 2 vermin out. God bless and save us, it aint lookin good.
On the Panel tonight someone said, “liar, liar pants on fire...” and Dr. Charles said, “you mean pantsuit...”
hillary’s “I had a dream” speech.
She made the whole thing up, and that is despicable when you consider the security she had that would have given their lives to keep her safe.
They did their job well, and she could care less. She lies because the truth is something she doesn't care about. She's entitled, doncha know!
Yep, same here.
Clintophant Lanny Davis was all over the cable shows this evening trying to explain it away. (I know he was all over—every time I changed the channel, he was there.) He used the basic left-wing solipsism and fooled no one.
That’s the one that goes something like this:
“It’s not a lie. It’s a mistake. Like the mistake John McCain made when he said ‘Al Qaida’ instead of ‘terrorists.’”
The problem, with this false analogy is, well, that it’s false. It takes the following form:
My candidate lied. I’ll say it was just a mistake.
Your candidate made a mistake. See—all candidates make mistakes. Your candidate did, and my candidate did.
But, Lanny, that sort of analogy is meaningless. It falsely equates two things that you claim are the same without providing any evidence that they are the same. Merely saying that other people make mistakes or that all people make mistakes does not in any way prove that what Hillary did was a mistake and not a lie.
Would she lie directly knowing that everything that she did was being filmed and could easily be proved? Maybe she just got it wrong. Everyone does that sometimes.
Then again, she does have a history of being a tad less than honest occasionally.
So that's the best Lannie could do with this, eh. I hate to jinks things, but it's looking like she finally jumped the shark.
If it walks like a duck & quacks like a duck.....
Okay. I give up. You win.
What "Panel?"
And who is Dr. Charles? Charles Krauthammer?
Maybe she believed she was being shot at by snipers every time she told the tale.
All that tells me is she is either delusional or deliberately telling an untruth.
We know she lies, there's a well documented history of that.
But if she is delusional, well, what can I say?
