THE ALBANY WALL OF SILENCE (BACKSTORY: Paterson fired aide assaulted by state Senator)
NY POST ^ | February 25, 2005 | ELIZABETH CROTHERS

February 25, 2005

When I filed a complaint against Michael Boxley, then the chief counsel to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, for sexual assault, every authority except my own boss (Assemblyman Pat Manning) greeted me with contempt. The dismissed aide (of Sen David Patterson), Neysha Williams, has exposed Albany's wall of silence — a mass of legislators whose instinct for self-preservation is more powerful than their regard for the safety and well being of others. Those who break the code of silence to protect themselves and others can expect only punishment. Williams says that she was physically attacked and verbally threatened by state Sen. Kevin Parker (a Democrat). There were witnesses to Parker's yelling at Williams as well as previous documented violent outbursts by Parker. Yet neither Democrats nor the Republicans in the Senate leadership have publicly defended the alleged victim. No one has even stated the obvious: that it is wrong for staff members to be physically or verbally abused. Instead, they fired the victim. In response to Williams' complaint, Senate Minority Leader David Paterson decided to transfer her to another office. When she declined, she was dismissed.

Elizabeth Crothers is now a political consultant in California.

COMMENTARY----PATERSON--SPITZER SEXCAPADES GET EVEN BIGGER The feds should nail Speaker Silver and the rest of the Albanians on this. They all know PLENTY. Albany interns have quite a story to tell---Paterson and Silver did nothing to stop assaults on interns. Silver's ex-aide Michael Boxley seduced interns with date rape drugs---one intern told Silver what had happened but Silver did nothing about it. Once can only imagine the locker room talk in the halls of Albany over the incidents---the lowlife legislators musta got quite a few vicarious thrills in the retelling of the sex-charged stories. (Boxley pled guilty to sexual misconduct, was ousted, and lost his law license).

WOMEN'S FURY OVER AXED AIDE By FREDRIC U. DICKER, NY POST

February 28, 2005 -- The two women who say they were raped by the Assembly's former chief counsel have sent an unprecedented "open letter" to state lawmakers, urging an end to the "victimization" of female employees.

The women, former Assembly staffers, faxed the letter late last week to all 212 lawmakers in the wake of Senate Minority Leader David Paterson's decision to fire his receptionist, Neysha Williams, who complained of harassment — and a nonsexual violent assault — at the hands of Sen. Kevin Parker (D-Brooklyn).

"We have come together to address the prevalence of Assembly and Senate employees being victimized by those who hold immense

power over their personal and professional lives, as well as their physical well-being," Elizabeth Crothers and the second victim wrote.

Crothers filed an administrative charge of rape against Michael Boxley in 2001. The second victim asked that her name be kept out of the media after she

accused Boxley in a criminal rape complaint in 2003.

"Rather than acting against the perpetrator, Sen. Paterson decided to transfer her [Williams] to another office after she complained," says the letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Post. "When she declined, she was dismissed. Boxley, 45, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of sexual misconduct in late 2003 under a plea bargain that kept him out of jail but required him to be placed on the state's sex-offender registry.

NYers would be a lot better off if they had no government at all.

What a mess up there in Albany. Is it time for the Feds to investigate?

True. But America will be a lot better off if they keep their Senator.

Rather than sending her back to Washington, DC.

I think the most accurate comparison of Albany would be Rome from Mel Brooks movie, History of the World, part 1.

Can’t find anything at the links or in search of NY Post — did they get a threatening legal letter and pull the item, or does anyone know what’s going on?

The corrupt putrid State of NY is beyond any help. From top to bottom corruption rules.

The best and brightest have left..and the rest are either hanging by a thread or as in the majority are on the government taxpayer supported gravy train teat in one form or another.

If you gave the script being written up I-88 from the Twilight Zone, not a single TV or NR Rated Movie Producer would believe it. The “surface hasn’t even been scratched yet” in all of this. If everybody was “exposed” for their behavior the next Governor would be the 389th in line for the job.

The Feds/FBI has been investigationg Senatoe Majority Leader Joe Bruno (R) for over 2 years and cannot seem to be able to indict the criminal. Yes, in NY both Republicasn and Democrats are crooks.
