Chicago's Trinity United tied to founder of black liberation theology

WASHINGTON --Jesus is black. Merging Marxism with Christian Gospel may show the way to a better tomorrow. The white church in America is the Antichrist because it supported slavery and segregation. Those are some of the more provocative doctrines that animate the theology at the core of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Barack Obama's church.

Obama can try to "put this in context" all he wants. But for something like two decades, he was a member of this racist church with its seperatist agenda, presumably listening to its sermons, taking his wife and children to the sermons, and financially supporting this kind of hatred.

It would seem quite natural for someone with a Muslim father. This is just the “Americanized” version of Islam

Fascinating.

Obama has not answered several important questions- one of them being- how deeply does he believe in “The Black Value System” ?

Margaret Talev is adept at praising with faint damnation.

Jesus was Semitic (and Jewish!) when He was on earth. Now He is more than any race could account for.

As for the rest of it, those ideas, expressed in a speech, would be enough to disqualify anyone else from the presidency. Obama gets a pass because he is black and people are afraid to say anything bad about him. He, however, can ascribe a negative trait to the “typical” white person. He is a Marxist, racist, hypocrite who should get the democrat nomination and then be thoroughly brought down in the general election.

Yes- I’ve read it several times and can’t help but wonder how this can bring us together as Americans? The insistence on remaining apart and separate from whites is truly disturbing.

Last night I was listening to part of a sermon I’d not heard before (on Greta) and heard Wright list all the sins of the founders, then he added the amendments that corrected those sins as if even the amendments were bad. I had a sense that it wouldn’t matter what was done- for Wright there will never be peace between us, only more instances of white evil.

I found the part on middleclassness to be the most disturbing part of the Black Value System. It assumes a conspiratorial white society that is trying to manipulate blacks by selecting a few “Uncle Toms” to sway opinion and attitudes to keep the rest of blacks down. It is insane, yet it forms the philosophical basis of the church. This is where the attention needs to be focussed, i.e., more on the church itself than on what a particular pastor says or if Obama was in attendance for a particular sermon.

Claiming that the U.S. govt deliberately injected blacks with syphilis is hardly provocative; it’s a lie.

Coming from a pastor, that’s pretty bad.

Racist conspiracy theories

Obama’s pastor is hardly the only person voicing such conspiracy theories. Among other prominent promoters:

* In 1991, Bill Cosby told The New York Post that AIDS “was started by human beings to get after certain people they don’t like.”

* Spike Lee told Rolling Stone in 1992, “I’m convinced AIDS is a government-engineered disease... [But] they never realized it couldn’t just be contained to the groups it was intended to wipe out.”

* In a 1998 interview in Rolling Stone, Will Smith said that he “felt that AIDS was created as a result of biological warfare testing. ... Someone was messing around in a laboratory, trying to find biological weapons, and created AIDS.”

“Provocative” is media-speak for “racist”.

Exactly! The more I learn about this- the more I wonder how could I be part of an idealogical community for 20 years and NOT soak up and internalize the ideaology?

A small slip- but a telling one happened when Obama said yesterday about his grandmother “typical white person”...

Pathetic! Especially Will Smith. He “feels” that AIDS was created as a result of biological warfare testing.

Science isn’t about his dumb feelings. It’s about evidence, and he ought to get down on his knees every night and give thanks that medicine is based on science, not feelings.

Didn’t ANYONE hear the rumor that AIDS started in Africa via the Green Monkey? I was under the impression that the US Congress frowned on mandatory AIDS-testing BECAUSE it discriminated against blacks and homosexuals.

So, black racism is simply “provocative”.

Yep, it provokes me. Provokes me to be LESS tolerant, and more likely to hold everyone to the same standards.

I’m not going to read that garbage, but..

does it really infer that the black middle class is just a bunch of “uncle toms” because they succeeded in “white” [American] culture?
