Congress left Washington on Friday without passing the SAVE Act (H.R. 4088), which would secure our borders and strengthen our employer enforcement laws. We now have 2 more weeks to pressure our elected representatives in passing this important bill in April, upon their return from the Easter Recess.
Speaker Pelosi and her cronies appear to be winning this battle and we cannot allow them to win—a win for Pelosi and company will result in the defeat of the SAVE Act and passage of their new amnesty bill. Before Congress left town, 181 Congressmen signed the discharge petition, which requires 218 signatures in order to bring the bi-partisan bill to a vote on the House floor.
While they are on recess, you can expect Congressmen and Senators alike to hold town hall meetings, appear on local radio shows and attend public events. You must take advantage of this opportunity IN PERSON and demand that they secure our borders and enforce the immigration laws when they return to work in April.
Especially if you are unable to personally visit with your Congressman and Senators during these next two weeks, you need to flood their Capitol Hill offices with phone calls, faxes and e-mails demanding the same. At least 37 more Congressmen still need to sign the discharge petition in order to force a floor vote in early April and YOUR actions will make the difference.
We are making good progress, but few House Democrats are still willing to oppose Pelosi and sign the discharge petition. Unless House Democrats hear from more of their constituents, we will lose our opportunity to secure the border and strengthen our country’s lax immigration laws THIS YEAR.
As of this writing, only 181 Congressmen have added their names to the discharge petition in hopes of moving the SAVE Act to a vote. Some original co-sponsors of this bill have not added their names to the petition, for fear of reprisals by the House Democratic Leadership and the Open Borders Lobby.
Since there are still many Members of Congress who have not already signed the discharge petition, only the communications they receive from voters TODAY will compel them to act in the best interest of their country, not their political party. Send them an immediate fax and demand that they put America’s safety and security above their loyalty to a corrupt political agenda that seeks to give jobs, amnesty, and taxpayer funded social services to illegal aliens.
Speaker Pelosi and her colleagues oppose a vote on the SAVE ACT because it will undermine their efforts to pass their new 5 year Amnesty plan. Media reports indicate that they have been secretly peddling their amnesty bill in the smoke-filled rooms of Congress in order to vote on the amnesty bill later this Spring.
It is vitally important that ALL Congressmen who have not already signed the petition hear from their constituents, especially since Pelosi’s henchmen are attempting to strong-arm Democrats that support the SAVE ACT, and indefinitely prevent a vote from occurring. With 37 more signatures, the discharge petition would expedite passage of the SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088), circumvent the obstacles created by the House Democrat Leadership AND provide another victory for the WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
We must immediately muster strong grassroots support to pass the SAVE Act NOW! President Bush, Senate Leader Reid, House Speaker Pelosi and ALL of their colleagues must feel the pressure from millions of voters!
The implementation of the SAVE ACT will greatly reduce the number of corporations who knowingly provide jobs to illegal aliens, and as a result, who provide illegal aliens with an unfair advantage over American citizens and legal foreign workers. Citizens should not have to keep working harder only to reap diminished results and fewer benefits—while our feckless government and greedy corporations reward the criminal behavior of illegal aliens successfully cheating the system SUBSIDIZED by hard-working U.S. taxpayers!
