The pastor said that black men were given syphilis in the Tuskegee experiment. That was not the case. Men who already had syphilis were not given new drugs that might have cured them so they could document the course of the disease.

Not defending the study but many blacks (and whites) believe that the government gave these men the disease. Not true.
