Obama Battles Through Bad Week
ABC News ^ | March 15, 2008 | JOHN COCHRAN

What should have been a good week for Barack Obama has turned into one of the worst of his campaign.

Despite winning the Mississippi primary and increasing his lead in convention delegates, he was thrown off stride by dealings with a former fundraiser and inflammatory remarks by his one-time pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that are getting wide play on YouTube and TV including "Not God Bless America. God Damn America."

Obama worked hard Friday night on cable television news programs, trying to distance himself from Wright's remarks. On Fox he called them "completely unacceptable and inexcusable."

Today, campaigning in Plainfield, Ind., he said Wright never made incendiary statements in his presence.

"But if all I knew was those statements that I saw on television, I would be shocked," he said.

ABC News political consultant Mark Halperin, also of Time Magazine, said Obama had to go on the offensive, considering how hard his campaign was hit by the negative coverage.

"It was possible that this controversy was going to engulf Obama's candidacy," Halperin said. "He had to speak out after what had been several days of very toxic and very dangerous coverage for his candidacy." Obama also acknowledged in Chicago newspaper interviews that indicted businessman Tony Rezko raised more money for his past political campaigns than was previously known. Rezko had also advised him on buying a home.

Donna Brazile, a Democratic superdelegate and ABC News political consultant, said Obama was able to turn the attacks into an opportunity to show his mettle as a campaigner

The MSM will try to put lipstick on this pig, but it's sure not going to be easy.

Today, campaigning in Plainfield, Ind., he said Wright never made incendiary statements in his presence.

Obama lies - - Suprise! Surprise!

Presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday repudiated what he called "inflammatory and appalling remarks" made by his Chicago pastor.

Obama said he had not been present during the sermons in question.

Obama told MSNBC, "Had I heard them in church I would have expressed that concern directly to Rev. Wright."

Please note, he says that he would have expressed concern, not repudiate, the words

Yet, in this video, taken during Wright's 2007 Christmas services, "the Rev" places Obama in the congregation, by saying, "There is a man here, who can take this country in a new direction" and he points.

Wright continues, "Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a process that is controlled by rich white men, Hillary can never know that, Hillary ain't ever been called a nigger!"

While Wright rails, "Bill did us like he did Monica Lewinsky," Wright's successor, Otis Moss III, jumps into the picture frame, attempting to high-five "the Rev."

When Obama said, "Had I heard them in church ..." Obama lied.  He attended that 2007 Christmas service, he heard those words and he didn't say anything.

These two men, Obama and Wright, are two peas in the same pod.

And before I get feedback from the morla relatavists, remember, it was Obama, himself, that wrote these words in "'Dreams of My Father," -- "I found solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race."

And, please notice the congregation in that video.  They are going nuts during Wright's preaching.  All of them believe this "evil white man" crap and eat it up.

The whole bunch of them are the worst kinds of hateful racists -- and remember, Wright's congregation is composed of successful, educated African-Americans.

My ass. You went there 20 years you lying bastard. This guy was like your surrogate black daddy...married you, baptized your kids, you gave him tens of thousands and appointed him to boards and committees.

If you were black and had a real media on your butt, you'd be withdrawing from the race.

“Obama had to go on the offensive, considering how hard his campaign was hit by the negative coverage.”

“Negative coverage” = facts.

If ANY Republican candidate EVER received 1/10 of the cover and excuse making the LeftMedia routinely doles out for the Democrats, they would win in a landslide.

The new Obama campaign theme song:

I see a White House and I want it painted black
No Whities anymore I want the world to be black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes;
They will all be in hijab as my darkness grows
I see a line of cars and they’re all burned to black
With my power and my hate, America turns black.
I’ll make white people turn their heads and quickly run away
For every new black baby; reparations every day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my White House and it has been painted black
I’ll never fade away; You’ll have to face the fact:
If you elect me, I’ll turn your your whole world black!

All you green eyed devils; I’ll turn your life to rue.
You did not foresee this happening to you?
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My hate will laugh with me before the morning comes

I see a White world and I want it painted black
No bright colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
They will all be in hijab when my power Grows.
Hmm, hmm, hmm,…
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!

(With apologies to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.... I only had to change a few words to make this work.)

The MSM will try to put lipstick on this pig, but it's sure not going to be easy. Agree! The media backed him, while knowing nothing about him. As things came out, they set them aside, until it came to this. Barak Hussein Obama is where he is because he gave a pretty speech at the DNC. He is another empty suit, that is being filled with false honors. He is not, nor was he ever an honorable man. He's a one speech phony!

The information about Rev. Wright was known when Hussein Obama ran for Senate. I know of it last year and I don't live in Illinois. Strange that no fuss about it until now. Do I detect the Clintons behind it? One simply has to look at the coverup of the many Clinton Scandals.

While Obama is ahead, should Hillary happen to win the nomination, I expect McCain will be in for a bigger trashing re: his adultery, his controversial stands on terrorists and POWs, rumors of him being the Manchurian Candidate, his mental stand. No matter that Hillary does not have clean hands.

Sometimes I think this could not possibly be true that we have such horrible candidates for president as this trio with not one of them qualified.

Donna Brazile

another colorblind black

has any black known conservative chimed in on this yet?

most of the black listeners on Hannity, Rush, Wilcow and Sullivan I heard were defending him as this was only something blacks and part-blacks would understand.

I guess since the Klan is only something whites can understand then white supremacy is ok too? I mean...what is playing out right now is precisely what the Klan and Citizen's Council was worried about and warned folks over 40 years ago? So does that make them right too by MSM and Obama and Donna Brazile logic?

It isn’t easy to hold down a greased pig, either. Anyone who remembers the 1992 campaign and the press’s favorite candidate back then will realize that.

And then there’s his stupid books, one of which was “inspired” by this “Rev. Wright”.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23634881

There he says he won’t “repuidiate this man” - hope they both have many bad weeks to come.

You know what I been thinking?

What about all those politicians who endorsed Obama?

I wonder if any of the Lamestream is going to go ask Teddy K if he still endorses OBama?

There’s a whole bunch of them and to really keep the pressure on America-loving Obama yo mama and his sweet and personable wife, all of them should be asked, everywhere they go, whether they still support this guy.

I never thought about that. However, I believe it was their deep down hatred for Hillary that made them decide to vote for Obama. I'd sure like to see them squirm, though!

How could Obama be "shocked" by Wright's disgusting rhetoric when video is coming out showing Obama nodding in agreement during one of Wright's rants.

This guy is through. The more he tries to distance himself from his former pastor, the more weasley he is going to look. In case you haven't noticed, Obama is a terrible liar.

I have actually heard bigtime talking heads on all the MSM including Fox say they did not know this.

Most FReepers did although not all.

I hammered this home months ago and got called racist for my efforts.

Right here on this forum.

“Stick to the issues wardaddy” “take the high road”....yea right...the fact he attends a black klan for 20 years is somehow not important

has a radical wife...not important

had a very radical mom ala Hideous Kinky...not important

radical black community activist before State Senate...not important

middle name Hussein, Muslim absent daddy, muslim step daddy and attended Madras school.....not important

won't put hand over heart for flag or anthem and refuses flag pin....not important

not important my ass....this clown is Eldridge Cleaver before his conversion in Algeria.......a modern day black panther.

what the hell planet am I own where he can seriously run for president here?

“Barack Obama either agreed with what was preached from the Trinity pulpit, or he tuned it out and stayed around pretending to for political reasons. To say he stayed for 20 years but doesn't agree with Wright's preaching is incredible denial. It'd be like a man buying White Sox season tickets for 20 years, attending the games, and saying he's not a fan.”

“When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obama’s deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.”

“Wright says that blacks can’t be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesn’t salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.”

Well I agree with you on that thing about the fine, fine trio we have up for President. As if, out of 300 million people, we couldn’t get ONE that at least some of the public liked? Besides, of course, the ephemeral Obama yo mama and his lovely and personable wife.

But as for knowing about the Rev. Wright’s brand of hatred, I consider myself one who keeps up to date on things and I had no idea that guy was this damn hateful.

Although maybe the words had been written somewhere but there’s just nothing like the sight and sound of the real thing. Even an actual transcript of what Wright said, which I don’t recall reading anywhere before, but even the actual words, had they been widely available, can’t match the video of it live and in person like.

Here in American we’re used to seeing the movie instead of reading the book at any rate. The barrage of those videos of the likeable Wright fellow has even the ladies at the beauty parlor sitting up and taking notice.
