Obama counters with (military) brass (Gag Alert)
Chicago Tribune ^ | 3/12/08 | John McCormick

Posted on 03/12/2008 5:58:11 PM PDT by pissant

Like an honor guard escorting him to his lectern, nine retired generals and admirals entered a room Wednesday with military precision to help Sen. Barack Obama counter suggestions that he isn't ready to be commander-in-chief.

Nine American flags, as well as one for each branch of the military, stood behind the Illinois Democrat as he strode along a red carpet into a ballroom at the Chicago History Museum.

Calling him "no shock Barack" and "no drama Obama," retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak said the first-term senator has the temperament to lead the military.

Obama, meanwhile, repeated his criticism of Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and presumptive Republic nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona for their support of an invasion of Iraq.

"After years of being told that Democrats have to talk, act and vote like John McCain to pass some commander-in-chief test, how many times do we have to learn that tough talk is not a substitute for sound judgment?" Obama asked.

Benedict Arnold was a military man, too. These morons want to turn this country over to this wolf in sheep’s clothing, smiley faced fraud. Osama Obama must be exposed. The Radical Left is perpetrating a fraud upon this nation.

Re: How any military man could support this communist POS is beyond me.

Well, the story says "Calling him "no shock Barack" and "no drama Obama," retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak said the first-term senator has the temperament to lead the military."

I recall this guy being called a wuss when I saw his TV Spot for Obama but I cannot recall who said it. It was on a History Channel or "Wings" segment.

So when I even check Merrill McPeak's Wikipedia bio, is says: "His legacy as Chief of Staff has been the subject of much debate. Many accuse him of trying to run the Air Force as a corporation, with his introduction of Total Quality Management and the uniform changes which strayed from the traditional military style. Some of his uniform changes were soon undone after his retirement. He was often accused of ignoring the needs of enlisted men, and looking out solely for his officers. There was a large debate over the somewhat traditional act of inducting the outgoing chief of staff into the Order of the Sword."

He gave the USAF their Dance Band uniforms.

Oh yeah, no shock, no awe here, sport fans.... this guy is not a real warrior I want on my flank when the balloon goes up!

BTW only McPeak was quoted in the original ChiTrib story and none of the other 'retired generals and admirals' were even named. Guess they didn't want to have to explain this to their real warrior old pards!

to help Sen. Barack Obama counter suggestions that he isn't ready to be commander-in-chief.

He's not ready, or qualified. Next question.

McPeak was always an idiot...even before the first time he opened his mouth as a general officer.

He was often accused of ignoring the needs of enlisted men, and looking out solely for his officers.

More specifically, he only looked out for fighter pilots.

Clinton, who spoke to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington, responded with a list of more than 30 admirals and generals who have endorsed her campaign

B. Hussein has 9 generals hillary has 30 on a list..it's like they think its a giant game of risk.

It's not surprising there are military men that are hedging/ leveraging their bets/ careers on politicians, thats as old as politics itself.

None the less its still disheartening, that with barbarians at the gate, they manuever in this fashion.

Now, exactly what is that supposed to mean?
