Ford meets conditions; AFA suspends boycott
|
|
I have some good news for you! AFA is suspending its two year boycott of Ford Motor Company. The conditions of the original agreement presented in fall 2005 have been met. We reached the conclusion that Ford had met the conditions of the agreement based on monitoring for several months. Individuals are free to purchase Ford vehicles again.
Your support of the boycott played a key role in convincing Ford to cease its significant support of the homosexual agenda. During the 24 months the boycott was in effect, Ford sales dropped an average of 8% per month. The boycott was not entirely responsible for the drop in sales, but it played a very significant role.
A total of 780,365 individuals signed AFA's Boycott Ford petition.
The original agreement contained four items:
- Ford would not renew current promotions or create future incentives that give cash donations to homosexual organizations based on the purchase of a vehicle.
- Ford would not make corporate donations to homosexual organizations that, as part of their activities, engage in political or social campaigns to promote civil unions or same-sex marriage.
- Ford would stop giving cash and vehicle donations or endorsements to homosexual social activities such as Gay Pride parades.
- Ford would cease all advertising on homosexual Web sites and through homosexual media outlets (magazines, television, radio) in the U.S. with the exception of $100,000 to be used by Volvo. The Volvo ads would be the same ads used in the general media and not aimed at the homosexual community specifically.
A few minor issues remain, and we will continue to bring these to the attention of Ford. But basically Ford has met the terms of the agreement. We are therefore suspending the boycott. |

Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution? Click here to make a donation. |

During the 24 months the boycott was in effect, Ford sales dropped an average of 8% per month. That works out to about an 86% drop in sales. Are those numbers correct?

That works out to about an 86% drop in sales. Are those numbers correct? I don't think that is what the actual numbers are. I bet the actual situation is: "despite month-to-month sales actually increasing for a few months of the boycott, overall, the drop was 8% from the level of sales before the boycott" or "on average, the sales from each month of the 24-month period were 8% less than the corresponding month prior to the boycott" or something similar.
But they sure know how to write it so it sounds more impressive!

That works out to about an 86% drop in sales. Are those numbers correct? I haven't followed Ford's numbers in detail but I do know they're not doing well at all. Several factors behind that, but I assure you that for the liberal execs to cave on the gay issue is solid evidence that the boycott was a significant element.
BTW, a straight-on economic assault is the only thing IMHO that will ever change the MSM, which is this country's greatest practical enemy by a huge margin. These are all public companies which have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize shareholder value, yet they continuously shoot the finger in the face of half the country. It's business idiocy and they should be taken to task on it.

Too little , too late. I traded in an Explorer for a CR-V and couldn’t be happier. Thanks, Ford, for showing me the errors of my ways.—a lot less time in the shop now.

My wife and I bought an Acura 3.2TL eight years ago, and my only regret as a past Ford owner is that I won’t be able to teach my young son the essentials of automotive maintenance and major repair until he’s sixteen buys his own decrepit beater.
I hardly ever look under the hood anymore.

I didn’t think I’d see this happen, but I am glad. I still would not buy a Ford, but there are a lot of other companies owned by Ford, whose products I do like.
Praise the Lord!

Why can’t Ford build a Mustang Cobra that sells for less than $45k MSRP that the stealerships turn around and charge another $20k for dealer markup?

Quasi-related...a woman at my church bought a “Outlander”? Is that it, the one that has a repuation as a lesbian car? She had no idea...until she was propositioned by a woman while waiting in line at the DMV to get her plates!

I think you mean a Subaru Outback, a well-known lesmobile, as are all Subarus.

Actually, Ford is making better cars. I bought a Ford Escape back in 2002. I bought a 6-year extended warranty on it but never once had to use it even though I put a lot of miles on the car and do a lot of stop and go city driving. My only complaint was that it was a fairly noisy ride--lots of wind noise. I liked the Escape so much that I purchased a 2008 Escape back in December. The ride is much improved and it is A LOT quieter. I couldn't be more happy with it. And it makes me feel good knowing that I am supporting an American-owned company.

Because they’re required to sell so many Ford Foci to meet CAFE requirements, and they make about $100 profit on each, so they need to make up that razor-thin margin elsewhere.
Want to know why so many SUVs hit the market? Because the profit margin on each of those is $10,000 and up.

Why cant Ford build a Mustang Cobra that sells for less than $45k MSRP that the stealerships turn around and charge another $20k for dealer markup?Ford can't repeal the laws of economics. If there's enough demand for the Cobra that dealers can mark then up $20K and still sell, then that's what they're going to do.
I'd love to have a new 3-series BMW for $15K, but I don't complain about "stealerships" not providing me with one.

I didn't even know there was a boycott going on. We bought a Fusion not long ago.
