Do you think it’s wise to entrust our national security to France? I don’t.

So I should pay even more in taxes knowing I’m supporting Boeing workers? Whats the deal, do they walk on water?

I think it’s OK that Americans are gonna be doing the work in America.

More new jobs are being created in the US because NG got the contract.

That’s a bit much. Stupid people believe stupid things. We do not live in a Democracy for that specific reason. So what is it (giggle, giggle) boxers or briefs?... /S

(AP) Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.,turns away after talking to reporters... Full Image "Having made sure that Iraq gets new schools, roads, bridges and dams that we deny America, now we are making sure that France gets the jobs that Americans used to have," said Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill. "We are sending the jobs overseas, all because John McCain demanded it."

That was my concern too. Someone , the other day posted some facts about this. It included jobs in America and the difference between the planes.

And another thing: why the f*** did McCain steer a defense contract to a FOREIGN COMPANY???

Don't make him the scapegoat. It's a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

There are other targets for their ire - the Air Force, the defense secretary and even the entire Bush administration.

Te U.S. cannot afford to be beholding to any other nation for its National Security technologies.

If we're beholden to them for food and/or fuel, then being beholden for security technologies is suddenly not so bad. Our collective necks are so on the chopping block that it would be comical, if it were not so tragic.

I rarely agreed with them, but I did on occasion. Now that he’s got the slot they (rightly) choose to STFU.

Exactly what makes you think McCain ‘steered a contract’? The only thing McCain did was scuttle a corrupt deal made four years ago. Boeing should have been barred from even bidding on this contract. BTW, Northrup is a US company.

Every one being critical of McCain for Boeing losing need to chill out and explain exactly how McCain is responsble for Boeing’s loss. The decision to award this contract was made by a Source Selection Board. John McCain did not sit on that board and didn’t have a damn thing to do with who won this contract.

What exactly does that have to do with today?

To put it as simply as I can, the Boeing supporters thought they should have won this one years ago.

I'm not all that well informed of the specifics but... the plane was too small. Boeing shot itself in the foot. Blaming McCain is absolutely ridiculous for the incorrect specs.

Well put.

And I think there must be all of 100 people that realize that....

McCain said he is keeping an open mind on the contract, but in the past he has boasted about his role in blocking an earlier version of the tanker deal that gave the contract to Boeing. The deal was killed in 2004 after a former Boeing executive improperly recruited an Air Force official while she was still overseeing contracts involving prospective Boeing deals. The former Air Force official, Darleen Druyun, and a top Boeing executive both served time in prison, and the scandal led to the departure of Boeing's chief executive and several top Air Force officials.

This deal needed to be blocked. Ms. Druyun had negotiated Boeing jobs for herself, her daughter, and her future son-in-law. That's bribery.

Boeing is lucky they even had a chance to re-negotiate.
