Talbott has been and continues to be a major foreign policy thinker. Back in 2000, when he was named head of the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, he was described as "a key architect of U.S. foreign policy" during the Clinton years.

Is the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization to common denominator between the Clintons, Bushes and John Kerry?

He has been a friend of Bill Clinton since their days as fellow Rhodes Scholars at the University of Oxford, where he translated Nikita Khrushchev’s memoirs into English.

Following Clinton’s election to national office, Talbot was invited into government where he served at first managing the consequences of the Soviet breakup as Ambassador-at-Large and Special Adviser to the Secretary of State on the New Independent States.

Talbott is a noted author who wrote in a July 20, 1992 Time magazine article, “The Birth of the Global Nation”, that “The best mechanism for democracy, whether at the level of the multinational state or that of the planet as a whole, is not an all-powerful Leviathan or centralized superstate, but a federation, a union of separate states that allocate certain powers to a central government while retaining many others for themselves.”

According to a former Russian Foreign Intelligence Service operative Sergei Tretyakov, SVR considered Talbott a source of intelligence information and classified him as “a special unofficial contact”, although “he was not a Russian spy.” These allegations center on Talbott’s relationship with Russian ambassador Mamedov.

The top U.N. official responsible for monitoring the clandestine nuclear programs of Iran and Pakistan is a Russian spy, according to a new book on Moscow’s espionage operations in the United States and Canada.

The official is identified only by his Russian code name, ARTHUR, but other sources identified him as Tariq Rauf, 54, a Pakistani-born Canadian who is chief of verification and security-policy coordination at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The job “puts him in direct contact with both inspectors and countries around the globe,” a Canadian online magazine reported last year. “Rauf is responsible for ensuring IAEA scientists get into countries such as Iran and negotiating the access they need to completely verify the use of nuclear material.”

The allegations appear in “Comrade J: The Untold Secrets of Russia’s Master Spy in America After the End of the Cold War” by former Washington Post reporter Pete Earley, author of two previous books on Russian spying in the United States.

The book amounts to a blistering memoir by Sergei Tretyakov, a former top Russian intelligence operative stationed in New York and Canada during the 1990s, first with the communist-era KGB and then its successor, the SVR.

Why are these charges in a book v. charges by the DOJ if he was engaged in espionage? Assuming this is true, why aren’t there formal charges filed?

Strobe Talbott and his wife, Brooke Shearer

Brooke Shearer, is a very close friend of Hillary Clinton, and is her frequent travelling companion. Prior to the 1992 election, Clinton appointed Shearer as his top economic advisor (Wall Street Journal - Sept. 11, 1992).

STROBE TALBOTT, as mentioned above, is the step-brother of Derek Shearer, and formerly an editor of TIME magazine, and earlier a roommate of Bill Clinton's at Oxford. Talbott is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Since it's founding in 1921, the CFR has been dedicated to forming a socialist world government under the auspices of the U.N.

Lloyd Shearer, the patriarch of the clan, was for many years the editor of Parade magazine, which, during the Reagan era, interspersed its celebrity profiles and sensible recipes with anxious warnings about the dangers of the nuclear arms race. His son Derek, a former professor at Occidental College, served in Clinton's Commerce Department and then as his ambassador to Finland. Derek also co-authored a book called Economic Democracy, which served as something of a manifesto for Tom Hayden when the former SDSer abandoned radicalism for the California Senate in the early 1980s. Worse yet, Derek's wife, Ruth Yannatta Goldway, was elected mayor of Santa Monica in 1981.

Derek's sister Brooke worked on Hillary Rodham Clinton's staff and is married to Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott, the president's buddy from his Oxford days, long suspected by the right of being soft on communism.

Cody Shearer, Brooke's twin brother, rumored to have been Kathleen Willey's stalker. Shearer was involved in the harassment of Willey which included her dead cat.

Shearer acting on behalf of the legendary Clinton "opposition research" outfit, floated damaging rumors during the '92 primaries about Paul Tsongas' health and Jerry Brown's drug use.

Shearer acted as a liaison between Lenzner's firm, Investigative Group International and the Clinton Administration Shearer's sister, Brooke was once employed by Lenzner's firm, IGI.

Cody Shearer's efforts as a free-lance political fixer have not been limited to domestic affairs. Much to the embarrassment of his brother-in-law and the consternation of others in the State Department, details have recently emerged about Shearer's efforts, in 1996 and 1997, to arrange for Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic to surrender to the International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague.

******

Shearer and IGI have close ties to the Clinton administration. Shearer's brother, Derek, is ambassador to Finland. His sister, Brooke Shearer, has held a number of political posts in the administration, and her husband is longtime Clinton friend Strobe Talbott, now the number two official at the State Department. Both Cody and Brooke Shearer have worked at IGI.

Brooke Shearer, was director of the White House Fellowship Program and she was married to Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott.

Terry Lenzner’s IGI has been retained for everything from checking out potential business partners in the former Soviet Union (he’s hired former KGB agents to help with that).

Lenzner’s repeated and covert sleuthing on behalf of Clinton and other Democratic figures may loom largest in Lenzner’s life.

Lenzner was deputy counsel for the Senate Watergate Committee along side Hillary Clinton.

Lenzner’s ex-employees say he has appeared willing to indulge a “viciousness” that has left onetime admirers “horrified by the transformation.”

Equally troubling to some has been the cloudy identity of some of IGI’s employers. When IGI investigators were discovered researching Sen. Edward Kennedy’s opponent in 1994, the Kennedy campaign first denied employing Lenzner, then admitted it when confronted by the Boston Globe. When no record of payments to or donations by IGI turned up on Kennedy’s campaign finance reports, it was finally discovered that Washington lawyer James Flug had hired IGI and been reimbursed by the campaign.

The exact relationship between Lenzner and the Clinton White House has been similarly unclear, although Lenzner has been working at least since 1994 for Clinton lawyers in the Whitewater and Paula Jones cases, did work for the Democratic Party in 1997, and received a no-bid grant worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from the State Department in 1994 and 1995 to train police officers in Haiti, according to the Associated Press.

Among former IGI investigators is Brooke Shearer, a longtime Clinton friend and wife of Deputy Secretary of State (and Clinton’s former Oxford University housemate) Strobe Talbott. Shearer traveled with Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 1992 campaign as a press aide and later worked in the Clinton White House.

The Associated Press reported that Secret Service entry logs show Lenzner himself visiting the White House a half-dozen times in recent years, including a 1996 meeting with ex-deputy chief of staff Harold Ickes to discuss potential investigative work.

Hill & Knowlton’s Frank Mankiewicz, who served as Robert F. Kennedy’s press secretary, hired Lenzner several years ago after H&K was retained by the United Way to handle inquiries into the lavish lifestyle of United Way President William Aramony.

Lenzner was told by the United Way to beat reporters to any problem areas so the charity could deal with them internally. But what he found was so damaging that Aramony eventually had to resign.

What concerns other friends of Lenzner, and former associates who describe themselves as disillusioned, is what they see as the dangers inherent in wedding the abusive potentialities of modern high-tech investigation methods with Lenzner’s take-no-prisoners attitude.

“He’s certainly not characterized by restraint,” says one longtime acquaintance. Says another: “He’s like a guy walking around with gasoline poured over him, just looking for a match.”

Political power partners Strobe Talbott and his wife, Brooke Shearer, have purchased 2800 Calvert Street, N.W. for $1.045 million. Talbott entered government in 1993 after twenty-one years with Time magazine and served in the State Department until 2001 as ambassador-at-large, special adviser to the secretary of State for the former Soviet Union's newly independent states, and as deputy secretary of state. In July 2002, Talbott became president of the Brookings Institution and is currently a trustee of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a member of the faculty of the World Economic Forum. An expert on arms control and Soviet affairs, Talbott has translated and edited two volumes of Nikita Khrushchev's memoirs and written five books. During President Clinton's first term, Shearer, a Stanford grad, joined Hillary Clinton's staff and headed the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. She also worked as a senior advisor to the Secretary of Interior. Prior to her government service, she was employed as a corporate investigator by Investigative Group International. Most recently, Shearer has served as a consultant to Global Health Strategies. She has been a trustee of the International Center for Research on Women and of the Institute for Women's Policy Research, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is the mother of two grown sons, Devin and Adrian, and the daughter of Lloyd Shearer better known as Walter Scott who wrote the “Personality Parade” column for Parade magazine from 1958 to 1991. Talbott and Shearer purchased their new District home from the estate of the late Helene J. Friedman.

The book doesn’t charge Talbott with “espionage”...
The strongest accusation was that he shouldn’t have been told anything of consequence — for fear that it would get to the wrong ears....

Talbott was a self deluded fool and tool.

Boris, Bill and Monica: trouble ahead for Hillary?

Dr. Jack Wheeler
BrookesNews.Com
Monday 13 November 2006

Will the saga of the world’s most famous fellatrice return to haunt Hillary in 2008? There’s this fascinating whisper making the Washington rounds that says yes. While convoluted and circumstantial, a number of plugged-in Washingtonians believe it. The story starts with Boris Yeltsin who was President of Russia from its emergence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 to 1999. In October of 2000, part three of his autobiography was published, Midnight Diaries. In it, there was an astounding revelation:

That in “late 1996,” after Bill Clinton’s re-election in November, he (Yeltsin) received a highly classified report from his Foreign Intelligence Service (Russian acronym SVR, formerly a branch of the KGB). Russian intel had learned that the President of the United States was having an affair with an intern named Monica Lewinsky. This was over a full year before the world learned of the scandal via the Drudge Report internet website on January 19, 1998.

snip

Somehow, it seems, Clinton had learned of Yeltsin’s SVR memo. Who told him? Suspicion has focused on a meeting in Moscow between Clinton confidante Strobe Talbot and Russian power-broker Anatoly Chubais on March 5, 1997 — three weeks before Clinton told Monica of his “worry.” Talbot was far more than just Deputy Secretary of State. A fellow Rhodes Scholar with Clinton at Oxford, he was one of Bill’s most closely trusted friends. Fluent in Russian, his contacts among the Russian power elite were deep. One of his best contacts was Anatoly Chubais. Yeltsin had placed Chubais in charge of the “privatization” program selling off Soviet state enterprises. It was a multi-multi-billion dollar scam, creating “oligarch” billionaires, of whom Chubais became one himself.

One of Hillary Clinton’s closest friends and traveling companions is a lady named Brooke Shearer. She retains her maiden name, for she is Strobe Talbot’s wife. She also just happened to be working at the White House in charge of the White House intern program. The thinking goes that it is inconceivable that Talbot would not tell his wife that one of her interns was fellating the president and being blackmailed by the Russkies for it — and that she would not tell Hillary.

So far, it looks like he’s right. That is, except for the rogue states, who don’t play to the gang’s rules. They are then clobbered by SC sanctions and NATO cluster bombs.

It enrages me that so few people of so little character, integrity or devotion to the principals of this Republic can become so close to power and so influential working against our best interests -— and be so handsomely rewarded as they works against the Republic.

Thanks for adding your posts to this thread....
We all need to be constantly reminded..

Lugar is an embarrassment to Indiana. He was voted in back in ‘72 I think under the title “Nixon’s Favorite Mayor” (right before the Watergate scandal). He was a reliable conservative his first two or three terms but has become progressively more RINO. Trouble is, he’s been around so long he’s an institution here in Hoosier land and I don’t know that he’ll ever lose an election. He didn’t even have a real opponent last time. He is also BIG TIME pro amnesty with all the trimmings.

Also a lot about the KGB Disinfo Program utilizing the Canadian/US Disarmement & Enviro movements to discredit leaders and capitalism...the KGB sure got a lot of bang for their Rubles with the Clinton Crime Family...
