Colombian President Alvaro Uribe said Tuesday that he will seek Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's denunciation in international court for financing a terrorist group.

Camilo Ospina, Colombia's ambassador to the United Nations, will go before the International Criminal Court to accuse Chavez of "supporting and financing genocides," Uribe told reporters.

The Colombian leader alleged Monday that correspondence taken from computers seized in last weekend's military raid into Ecuador showed Chavez had given $300 million to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

Colombia's largest rebel group, known by the Spanish acronym FARC, has sought to overthrow the government for more than 40 years. The United States and European Union consider the FARC a terrorist organization.

Chavez is pretty much the only person in the world who would find it profitable to invade Colombia.

Anyone heard from ol’ Hugo lately? Funny how he runs his mouth until he’s caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

I think Chavez thought he could bully Columbia into backing off, but what he wasn’t counting on was Columbia taking the “high road” and charging him in front of the International Court.

Chavez is looking more and more like a fool. He’s ordered troops to the border, closed border traffic to all commercial trucks, expelled Columbian and recalled his own diplomats for what purpose? For nothing other than “15 minutes” of fame. Meanwhile, Columbia is quietly building a case to isolate Chavez from the international community. Chavez may see his own demise over this matter.

I’m sure Joe Kennedy will come up with some sort of justification, but with a genocides charge hanging over Chavez’s head it may be a little more difficult.

He ought to be making progress on his case if he didn’t stop to post so many threads.

Chavez knows that what he has we want even if we hate him.

Chavez does not care what some world court thinks or says.

Even if certain embargoes were em-placed, he’ll still get whatever he wants from the Russian, Chinese, and Iranians... etc. Venezuela is a rouge nation, a tin pot regime but they have something we need. Like Iran, they are a sort of regime that will only respond to force.

You bring up some good points, but I think Chavez will fall from power in a all-to-common South American tradition - namely a military coup.

Long food lines, inflation, crime and corruption are all testing the patience of the Venezuelan people.

When someone has a complete strangle hold in some centralized regime and they know what they are doing; like Saddam, Hitler, Qaddafi, Mao, or Stalin, they can hold out for a very long time.
