Morning show host Mark Davis provides a highlights mp3 file each day. Today's is filled by his interview of Alan Keyes. They start off talking about McCain, with Keyes criticizing McCain's performance in Senate on judicial nominees, border control, and campaign finance. Liberty and national security are amongst the topics discussed as the interview proceeds.
will he talk about reparations, something even Obama opposed?
Maybe if he had taken out obama when he had the chance...
Now, he’s become a parody as a pres. candidate.
I asked Alan Keyes about this reparations topic recently, in one of his Tuesday and Thursday night public telephone conference calls. He was quite eloquent in describing his opinion about reparations: he agrees with Abraham Lincoln that the blood spilt on both sides of our War Between the States (that’s my language, not Lincoln’s, BTW) forever precludes further claims for reparations related to the evils of slavery. Anybody who has any questions is encouraged to participate in these calls. They usually begin at 10 pm eastern time — call 231-962-8000 and enter code 340794#
why we have to deal with obama today

most of us gave up on him years ago when he called anyone who ignored him a racist
Thanks for posting the info, it’s good to know there’s still one true conservative still out there running for President, and it’s really eye-opening how he’s been successfully blacked (no pun) out by the powers that be.
I see you also posted link to a news story about Keyes and reparations. I recall seeing similar story during that 2004 period, and I too was nonplussed. But I now understand that the reporting was quite misleading. The story is based not on some policy proposal ever made by Keyes, but on his thoughtful reply to a question posed by a reporter. This part of his answer was not a reparations plan, but a reinforcement of his opinion on the income tax system. Here's the flow of his answer:
* No reparations are warranted.
* If reparations were warranted, there's a much better way to do it than giving cash awards (and this is where he described the tax amnesty idea which your article describes).
* And once the rest of the people saw the economic boom unleashed by the elimination of income taxes for this one group, there would be quick elimination of federal income tax system for all.
I remember him when he first ran...in 96 I think. He had some really good things to say and done some good thing...
then he turned into this nader like perpetual candidate that doesn’t realize why he is totally unelectable and blames everyone for his loss.
Well, the notion that he’s unelectable is one that could be proven wrong. Of all the candidates still running, the one who best represents my views — by far — is Alan Keyes. If enough folks feel that way, and vote for the candidate who best represents them, he can win Texas on March 4. That would be another 165 delegates that McCain doesn’t get. If McCain doesn’t get enough delegates to win on first ballot, maybe someone else will prevail. If the Keyes campaign had an official “motto”, it might be “With God, all things are possible.” I don’t think it’s harder to persuade a million folks than to persuade one. It just takes exposure. We have months to go before the convention.
come on man...he’s not happening
Which candidate still in the election best represents your views? If it’s not Keyes, I can understand your conclusion. But if Keyes does best represent your views, as I suspect is the case for many here on Free Republic, then I urge you to let others know why those views are important enough to warrant voting with them in mind. If you don’t vote for the guy who best represents your views, well, you shouldn’t be surprised if you never see your views represented by the winners.
it’s not just about his views. he likes to turn off everyone.
I voted for huckabee. very similar views. very different approach. He even disarmed Keith olberman on a religion question. People actually love Mike.

As to the prospect of getting more people to like Keyes, I'm not at all pessimistic. In the 2000 campaign, he went down to Alabama and addressed the state GOP at their presidential 'beauty pageant'. He won the end-of-meeting vote. As best I can tell, the more that folks hear him, the better he does.
