If you had a laptop, would Internet service still work there?

I can’t read this because I have no power here. Thank goodness it has been posted many times already!

Miami is in chaos. So much for the traffic-light-controlled intersections becoming 4-way stops when the lights are out ... these people are blowing through intersections because the side streets have had to stop.

Again? Must be the third time today.

....listening to Shep Smith on fox...jeeezz
All I can say is.. I warn those who work at FOX, don’t ever ever follow Shep in an emergency. He had a very bad case of the “vapors”...at one time I honestly thought he was going to break out in tears

Howie Carr left Seafood Salad in his refrigerator in the affected area. He said he’s going back there next month. I would suggest throwing it away or suffer an appalling diarrhea.

But the cause of the outage was not immediately known. I'm in Homestead at the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant.
Sounds like a 500 KV power line went down up in Broward Cty, possibly as a result of the high winds being generated from the cold front moving in.
BTW, both Turkey Point reactors tripped from loss of offsite power. This is an engineered safety feature and the plant reacted as expected.

Just came home....
Was at the supermarket and noticed long lines, 'hurricane on the way' type lines
...a lady in line said her husband works for the power company and power outages extended from Miami to Daytona ....
..so far, we're fine (central east coast)...but folks sure were buying the groceries.

In reply to the “myth” of power outages making intersections four way stops let me say that if you decide to stop you be run over.
