~snip~ But Loren Thompson, who runs the Lexington Institute and stays in touch with defense industry executives, said Mr. Obama is difficult to categorize.

"His views are all over the map depending on whether its nuclear proliferation, energy independence or the global war on terror," he said. "How many liberals say they are going to bomb al Qaeda in Pakistan no matter whether the Pakistanis like it or not? He's much harder to pin down."

“A lot of retired senior officers feel the same way.”

They need to stand up and be counted in a serious way, if Obama gets the Dem nomination.

A campaign ad of distinguished retired military leaders giving testimonials against Obama would be very effective.

I wish they would do a poll because the young military personnel don’t fear Obama at all. In fact, they love him. UGH!!! I am fighting a losing battle here. I am trying to convince them to vote McCain, but since I am luke warm it is difficult and they can probably see right throgh me. lol. Global Warming is McCain’s downfall for me...

"He has the potential to be one of the all-time greats. I think the senior military will learn that about him starting from the first minute he occupies the Oval Office. ... There's no question that he is kind of scary smart. I think just plain intelligence is a very good quality to have in a commander in chief."

I have an idea, lets put Obaaaama on the ground in Iraq as a test. Let the community organizer "organize" the factions currently in Iraq....

Obama understands the Islamic threat all too well because he’s a part of them.

Nothing to fear, once Lord Obama assumes the throne, the Four Horseman of the Apocapalypse will ride no more. War, Conquest, Pestilence and Death will be banished forever. There will be nothing to fear but Obama himself.

If Obama does manages to get elected, he would be far worse than Carter. The military would be damaged for many decades, and many will quit, one hopes McCain puts an end to this nonsense.

It’s part of the job. I spent almost 30 years in the military and didn’t pick my commander-in-chief about half the time. But I served them all to the best of my ability, as will those who are in now should Obama win the election.

I think the fear is that like the Clinton years, the military will be under funded if not whacked to death to the point we are not ready for anything. His idea would be to have the military used as meals on wheels for the purpose of ending global poverty or some such endeavour.I think he hates the country more than Hillary does.

said Mr. Obama is difficult to categorize.

B.S. Total B.S. He is perfectly categorized. He is a socialist. He is a liberal. He is a stinking muzzie rag head (see his photo posted here on site), he is a communist pig. He is EASY to categorize.

What I am really worried about is because of skyrocketing social spending we will not be able to fund a military of sufficient size--equipment etc etc capable of protecting this country

And Bush and the GOP spent $$$ like liberals

It’s not just Obama who doesn’t understand the Islamic threat. 99% of the world fails to understand it.

These military guys should have picked a candidate that could be supported by the conservative base. Here’s what you get with McCain. Amnesty=10 million more democrat voters=Democrat congress forever+democrat President 2012 and forever after. So work your butts off and get McCain elected and you can watch him destroy the party. In four years it won’t matter who you voted for in 2008.
