FReeping the Vote. Following up on JR's no-McCain objective
vanity ^ | 2-13-2008 | unspun

We know our objective: to prevent a first ballot victory by John McCain.

I think we also know the only effective way to do this: campaigning for Mike Huckabee.

Please go to mikehuckabee.com and/or to hucksarmy.com and get busy.

There is an excellent way to make phone calls while on-line. Donations are always critical. There are voter guides for forwarding to those you know.

The next rounds are critical, to see if we can maximize our potential, to shut McCain out.

In your heart you know this is the right way to be effective.

No.

Only thing worse than a McCain ticket is a McCain/Huckabee ticket.

No.

What is the possible outcome of this exercise?

Who might be nominated instead of John McCain?

In my heart I know it is a waste of time.

Unlike "investing" your time in all the negative, bring-down, curmudgeon posting in FR, you mean....

(Aside from whomever may be paid by Soros, some other kind of troll, etc.)

What was all this talk about principle? Now we’re supposed to do whatever it takes to stop McCain? Pffftttt...this is all crap. Huckabee is just hanging in there long enough to surpass Romney’s delegate count so he appears somehow more viable the next time around. I’ll never vote for Huckabee. He showed his true colors in Iowa.

Thanks for asking, TSL:

MIKE HUCKABEE

- Pro-Life Leadership (instead of begrudging lip service)
- Pro-1st Amendment (against McCain-Feingold)
- Pro-2nd Amendment (America’s first Conceal & Carry Permit Governor)
- Pro-10th Amendment
- Pro-Sovereignty, Anti-Globalist/Corporatist control
- Pro-Israel (no land giveaways for false “peace”)
- Pro-Marriage
- Pro-Overwhelming Defense
- Pro-Border Security & Immigration Enforcement (”no amnesty” pledge, plus pledge to Sen. Sessions’ criteria)
- Small Government Fiscal Conservative (signed “no tax increase” pledge)
- Pro-Opportunity Society
- Pro-American Business
- Pro-American Wage Earner
- Pro-Tax Reform
- Pro-Personal Investment
- Pro-Individual Healthcare Empowerment
- Pro-Private/Home Education

It would be shameful not to back him up vs. John McCain.

Or, you can just salve your soul with the anti-Huckabee slander. (But remember, Ronald Reagan was less conservative in California than Mike Huckabee in Arkansas, with their 7:1 Democrat legislature.)

Huck cannot win, but go ahead and do as you wish if it makes you feel better. The fix has been in for a while. McCain will get the nomination. I will keep investing my time in all the negative bring-down, curmudgeon posting on FR.

How did he do that? By winning?

I might promote this if it were a different non-McCain candidate. But Huckabee was my absolute last choice, even behind Giuliani and McCain. Other than abortion and guns, and a general amiability, I find little (if not nothing) conservative/ agreeable about him — and consider him the kind of Republican against whom the Dems would LOVE to run.

Funny tag line, since you support Mr. Nanny State.

I went to the Huckster’s web site. His line about not cutting government spending because it would hurt the economy is nuts. The guy tries to be both Milton Freedman and Keynesian at the same time.

McCain might scare me more, but I’m not sure about that. Anyway, even if we managed a brokered convention, the elites have already decided, we will lose big with Juan McLame.

If you really want to ensure that I won’t vote for McCain... put Huckabee on the ticket with him.

I don’t care if you never vote for Huckabee. But don’t you think the people in the states that haven’t even voted yet should continue to have a choice if they want one? They can freely vote for McCain if they so choose. But calling the vote over before everyone has voted and before any candidate has won more than 50% of the delegates is very anti-republican. Voters in different states have different ideas. I think the voters near the end should get an opportunity to count as much as voters at the beginning, at least until one candidate achieves the 1,191 mark. Until then no one has won it. McCain has won so far. But each new state brings new opinions. Those voters should be heard and given an opportunity to decide if they want McCain to be their nominee. Calling it over before it is over is CHEATING.

Sorry. No such line there, as I saw.
